The second match of Saturday Night’s Main Event saw Bron Breakker defending his Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus. The pair had been feuding for months, and tonight’s match seemed like the conclusion to the rivalry. The Celtic Warrior has pursued the title for several years. Unfortunately, his hunt for the championship, which has eluded him throughout his career, will continue as Breakker emerged victorious at the retro event.
WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura joined the commentary booth for this huge battle. As expected, these two engaged in hard-hitting back-and-forths from the get-go. Breakker used his speed and agility to gain the early upper hand. However, Sheamus caught him on the outside and sent him crashing through the timekeeper’s area. Moments later, Breakker countered a high-flying move into a Spear as the telecast cut to commercial.
Back from the break, Breakker delivered successive double knees to the abdomen. Sheamus fought back into the match with a brutal knee to the face. Furthermore, the Irish wrestler hit the champion with the Celtic Cross for a close nearfall. Breakker came back quickly, only for Sheamus to counter a Spear into a Brogue Kick. However, his ribs gave out during another attempt, allowing Bron Breakker to hit another Spear and pick up the win.

The former NXT Champion extended his dominant run on the main roster. Meanwhile, Sheamus will look to recuperate after suffering yet another devastating loss. With that said, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for both stars as the road to WrestleMania kickstarts at next week’s Royal Rumble.
WWE Universe reacts to ‘BANGER’ Intercontinental Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event
Despite the enthralling battle, fans were left disappointed by the outcome. Not only Sheamus, but the WWE Universe has only yearned for him to finally win the Intercontinental Championship. As such, a few users called out WWE’s predictability at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

While fans criticized the company’s booking, others pitched for The Celtic Warrior to ‘finish his story’ at WrestleMania 41. Many believe that the veteran deserves to win the championship for all the hard work he has put in over the years.
