“My family would ridicule me,” 46-year-old WWE star mocks Cody Rhodes’ neck tattoo; would rather die of liver and kidney failure than having it
A former World Champion isn't a fan of Cody Rhodes' American Nightmare logo that's been engraved on his neck since 2020.

Cody Rhodes has had one of the most dramatic career revivals of all time. From the indictment of Stardust to leaving WWE in 2016, starting AEW as one of its founding members, and finally coming back to WWE bigger than ever at WrestleMania 38, what a fairytale it has been! One of the major aspects that set him apart in the first place was his infamous neck tattoo.
Taking offense to its gigantism, Sheamus recently took a light-hearted jab at Rhodes’ artwork. The Celtic Warrior joined The Masked Man Show and asserted how he’d never do anything like that. The Irishman joked that he’d rather die of liver and kidney failure before it happens to him.
The former League of Nations member said he’s not even concerned about the public response but his family, who’d keep taunting him if he got tattooed on his neck like Cody. That was a pretty interesting response from Sheamus, wasn’t it? And in no way would he be ruing the day he said this. Why’s that?
Because Rhodes isn’t too high on his neck tattoo either. It’s no secret that he definitely wanted to get it done. However, the size was never supposed to be so big. The American Nightmare spoke about it during his appearance on 2 Bears 1 Cave. He admittedly didn’t pay any heed to the tattoo-making while it was inked.
And once it was done, Cody realized that he had messed up. Rhodes even got scoffed at during a production meeting in AEW at the time for his deed. Legendary commentator Jim Ross couldn’t believe Cody’s tattoo was real. Knowing it’d stay with him for the rest of his career, the former AEW EVP has embraced his body art.
Cody Rhodes’ upcoming WWE schedule won’t let him breathe easy
Being the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes is putting in the work needed to uphold its integrity. This weekend, he’ll head to San Antonio for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The 39-year-old will sign on the dotted line for his upcoming title defense at the Royal Rumble against Kevin Owens. The contract signing will be mediated by Shawn Michaels. After that, Rhodes will head to Raw in his home state of Georgia. Fans are eagerly waiting to find out what he’s going to talk about.
Whatever that might be, The Prodigal Son is focused on coming out of his ladder match against Kevin unscathed. In a setting that could crush bones, Cody will have to retrieve the WWE title, hanging way up high. But with great risk comes great reward.
