When the Cleveland Browns announced that Shedeur Sanders would remain as their starting quarterback for the rest of the season, it was a sigh of relief for the 5th round pick.
In three games, he had surprisingly taken the lead as the best rookie QB in the 2025 draft class, something he had been boasting about since his final year at Colorado. At the same time, some warned him to be cautious, as a string of bad results would take away this opportunity faster than it took for him to earn it.
Ahead of their Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears, Shedeur Sanders had earned praise from both his own head coach and that of the opposing team.
But all that fell flat on its face when the 23-year-old threw 3 interceptions in a 3-31 loss to their opponents. After such a game, it was natural that reporters would quiz him about whether he feared losing his job.
Do you know what league we’re in? You can lose your job at any point in time. You don’t play with fear… I don’t play or live in fear… I live each moment and try to live each day to the fullest, so never live in worry or fear.
Shedeur Sanders replied

The rookie was made aware that head coach Kevin Stefanski had confirmed that this loss was not going to lead to a QB change. However, his answer reveals that he is not bothered and wants to continue doing his job.
Shedeur Sanders downplays wristband issue
Any football fan who missed the game and just looked at the stat sheet would know that Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns struggled against the Chicago Bears.
But those who watched know that the away team was doomed for pretty much the entire game. Early in the second quarter, sideline reporter Allison Williams reported that there was an issue with the QB’s wristband, which forced the team to replace the play call sheet.
The card just fell out. It just fell out on the sideline. That was it.

The Texas native’s answer makes it seem as if it was just a mistake or an incident that required them to make adjustments. Even his head coach mentioned along the lines of there being something on the play card, which led them to replace it.
"They removed his wristband and made some changes to the play calls."

However, Williams had mentioned that the Browns had removed his wristband and made some changes to the play calls. The player and his HC might have deflected it, but there is a reason why reporters were asking about it, as it seems the coaches messed up again.
Shedeur Sanders deflects blame off Jerry Jeudy on second interception
When Shedeur Sanders was driving down the field in the third quarter, there was still enough time to stage a comeback and overcome the 18-point difference.

After reaching the middle of the Bears’ half, the rookie sized up and threw a deep pass towards star receiver Jerry Jeudy. The latter could not gather the ball, and it bounced off his chest and into the hands of his defender.
It’s going to happen. It is what it is. I’m not one to kick someone while they’re down. He understands it was a big play, and I’m sure he’s hard on himself. So there’s no need for me to be extra and do that.

Those in the Browns media section were probably probing the QB to try to get him to criticize Jeudy. But Sanders chose the diplomatic way and deflected blame from the receiver, suggesting that such things happen.
