Over the past several hours, Shedeur Sanders and his Cleveland Browns have come to realize that they will now spend time with Todd Monken as they prepare for next season.

The decision to hire the former Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator did not come with a lot of approval, especially from members of the media, who felt the franchise left better candidates on the table.

Earlier, Todd Monken traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, and headed straight to the Browns’ facilities to meet owner Jimmy Haslam, GM Andrew Berry, and the rest of the front office staff.

Later, Shedeur Sanders was seen walking towards the head coach’s office to greet the team’s newest leader with his trademark wide smile. Then Monken was heard saying this:

Hey, we tried to draft you last year, for God’s sake. It’s all worked out. You remember that right? Someday we’ll get the chance to talk about that.

This means the rumors about the Ravens’ interest in drafting Sanders were true. This heartwarming exchange also excited Robert Griffin III, as he wrote this on X:

Having a Coach that wants you changes EVERYTHING. Shedeur Sanders will be the starter for the Cleveland Browns and be able to truly show how special he is as an NFL Quarterback. YOU LOVE TO SEE IT.

The former Browns QB believes that, contrary to what another former player mentioned about not giving Monken his respect, Griffin III believes this exchange proves that the head coach is fully bought in on his quarterback.

Todd Monken and Shedeur Sanders could propel Browns to playoffs, says Super Bowl champion

Robert Griffin III was not the only former player who felt that the first greeting between Todd Monken and Shedeur Sanders was enough proof that the QB has a head coach who appreciates him.

I went with a B-… I like Shedeur being paired with an offensive-minded coach… You got a squad. Y’all could be great. I think we’ve got a playoff berth coming for the Browns real soon.

The Super Bowl 50 champion stressed that from a distance, it looks like the new Browns head coach wants to work with the Pro Bowl quarterback, and along with his offensive coordinator background, could become a blessing in disguise.

Aqib Talib graded the hire as a B-, with the minus as the Browns may end up losing the defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. The latter was in the running to be the head coach and may have already left the building after the franchise chose Monken.

The former cornerback reiterated that if the Browns can hold on to Schwartz or hire another stud defensive coordinator, then he and Monken can guide Shedeur Sanders and the league-dominating defense to the playoffs.

Todd Monken’s obsession with winning could be a good sign for Shedeur Sanders

During the drive from the airport towards the Cleveland Browns’ facilities, Todd Monken got into detailing how his obsession with winning has seen him spend a lot of offseason time in his office, rather than at home resting.

If this obsession holds in the days and months to come, it could be a good sign for Shedeur Sanders and the rest of the team. There were times this past season when former head coach Kevin Stefanski‘s extremely conservative or questionable decisions left many fuming.

When they could have tried to fight for wins, Stefanski’s calls held them back. The Browns might be hoping that Monken channels his obsession with winning football games onto the field, where he will not hold his team back.
