The NFL Combine was a valuable platform for players seeking to be drafted in the upcoming Draft at the end of April. For the top five picks, the Combine served as a platform to display their personality and character rather than their skills. The top quarterbacks of this draft, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward have had fruitful conversations with the scouts of top teams over the week.

The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback chose to abstain from participating in throwing drills to give lesser-ranked players the chance to showcase their skills. Shedeur Sanders has made a positive impression on the media and scouts through his interviews over the past few days.

The son of Deion Sanders hopes to join the New York Giants. He has been laying the groundwork to play in the Big Apple in his first season by hanging out with Malik Nabers and being vocal about his intent to take Daniel Jones’ place.

At his NFL Combine press conference, Shedeur Sanders had a bold response to a question of which team should pick him. The quarterback is not interested in being part of a franchise that expects him to fit in the traditional role of a player.

If you ain’t trying to change the franchise or the culture, don’t get me. You should know history repeats itself over and over and over. I’ve done it over and over and over so it should be no question why NFL franchise should pick me. You think I’m worried about what critics say or what people got to say. They hated on him too. So it’s almost normal, without people hating it’s not normal…

Shedeur Sanders quipped

Shedeur Sanders is confident in having an impact similar to his father Deion Sanders on the team that drafts him

He likes to win and that is what he intends to do once in the NFL. Shedeur Sanders realizes that the teams with the top picks in the Draft require a cultural shift to begin the transition from a losing team to a winning team.

Shedeur cited the example of his father Deion Sanders. The legendary corner was doubted by many in the run-up to the 1989 draft. Coach Prime’s confidence and swagger were unheard of which is why the critics were quick to doubt his potential.

Subsequently, Coach Prime proved that he was exactly what he marketed himself to be and more. Prime played football and baseball while going on his way to establish himself as one of the greatest defensive backs to play. Will Shedeur have the same impact? That is hard to say at the moment but since he carries the same last name and DNA, he will be expected to live up to the Sanders name.

The race to be the number-one pick of the 2025 Draft is heating up. Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, and Shedeur Sanders are all worthy of going first but the Titans are a wild card at this point. The team has not expressed a strong urge to choose a quarterback but they are not denying it either.

If there is one certain thing, the number at which a player is drafted does not matter, so Shedeur Sanders can have a significant impact wherever he lands.
