The 2024 NFL Draft has not even reached the halfway point, and Shedeur Sanders is now the favorite to be the No. 1 pick next year. Even though the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has confidence in his ability, he backed out this time around because his chances of being the first player off the board were slim to none.

Yet it seems that several betting sides are in favor that the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders will be in pole position to take the No. 1 spot in 2025. Several quarterbacks opted to play for another year for similar reasons as Sanders.

Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Georgia’s Carson Beck were close to announcing themselves for the 2024 draft. However, the odds were against them, as both were projected to be second-rounders.

However, in 2025, DraftKings claimed Shedeur Sanders has +100 and both Ewers and Beck have +300 odds to be No. 1. Penn State’s Drew Aller is +850, while Alabama’s Jalen Milroe is +950.

After conquering Division II with Jackson State, Shedeur moved with Coach Prime, to Colorado in 2023. Their ambition was clear: to dominate the Pac-12 and reach the playoffs.

A statement victory over 2022 CFP finalists sent shockwaves around the country. However, that was the Buffs’ high point of the season. Sanders’ team only won three more games and finished with a 4-8 record. Despite the poor campaign, 22-year-old Shedeur shined brightly. He completed 69.3% of his passes for 3230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and only three interceptions.

To become No. 1 in the draft, he has to equal or better those stats along with winning more games. 2024 will be a ‘prove it’ year for Shedeur Sanders. Here are some of the fan reactions:

Sanders has his best buddy, Travis Hunter, and brother, Shilo, as helping hands. Before that, they need to keep hold of some of the star players that are leaving one by one. Recently, Shilo posted a message on social media asking for players to contact him and Shedeur for tryouts.
