Everyone knows that Shedeur Sanders was not treated appropriately during the 2025 NFL Draft and in the first few months of his time with the Cleveland Browns. Deep down inside, everyone associated with the league understands that the Colorado Buffaloes star had been on the receiving end of some serious trolls and criticism.
However, it does not change the fact that there are many who are still not convinced that Sanders is a capable starter in the NFL. Despite his flashes of brilliance, the belief is that he sure needs a lot of development and repetitions, which means it would be a couple of years of consistent improvement to flip that opinion.
His debut season had a mix of highs and lows, but there is hope that maybe with some additional coaching and experience, he can start to shed the mistakes he committed this season.
After Kevin Stefanski was fired, many were relieved, as they felt it was the former Browns head coach who was stopping the 23-year-old from progressing. The hope is that whoever comes in will place him on a path to prove his worth, and then take a call on his future later next year or beyond that. But no one expected Shedeur Sanders to have this accomplishment in his young career this soon.

Even though Jordan Schulz’s followers were stunned by this revelation, once every other source confirmed the news, fans went bonkers.
Fans tear into the NFL for handing Shedeur Sanders a Pro Bowl nod
While most fans were ripping the league’s think tank for awarding Shedeur Sanders a Pro Bowl call-up based on his popularity, some pointed out facts to support their logic.
Fans understood that injuries to AFC QBs Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Daniel Jones, and Bo Nix, along with Drake Maye reaching the Super Bowl, complicated matters.
But there were still other signal callers who were deserving of this. Fans felt the league had made the Pro Bowl a joke. Check out examples of those reactions below:
Well that’s just pathetic.

I have a Pro Bowl helmet that I walk by almost everyday. It’s signed by some of the best players in the history of the NFL, legends, HOF’ers and real GOAT’s. The Pro Bowl use to be a badge of honor and respected. Things have changed

Objectively, and the keyword here is objectively. This is patently ridiculous. In what universe does a quarterback with a QBR rating of 18.9 out of 100, who threw more interceptions than touchdowns and completed 57% of his passes a pro bowl player? Take the name away and look at… https://t.co/iHL9T8AkQX

The reputation of the Pro Bowl continues to be diminished, not just by this decision but the many changes implemented in recent years. It should be abolished. https://t.co/npDqkhTku2

The worst starting QB in the NFL just made the pro bowl.

Time to cancel the event forever. https://t.co/wwF3SpOVDl
Shedeur Sanders in the Pro Bowl is the equivalent of Donald Trump getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

Shadeur Sanders getting in Pro Bowl over #jaguars Trevor Lawrence is elite level dumb. Trevor is an MVP finalist.

Pro bowl desperate for clicks

Shedeur Sanders finished with a worse QBR, quarterback rating, and a touchdown-to-interception ratio than other AFC QBs such as Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert, and CJ Stroud. Those stats gave ammunition to those reactions.
Skip Bayless believes NFL resurrected Pro Bowl by calling up Shedeur Sanders
Even though almost the entire football world is against Shedeur Sanders’ Pro Bowl selections, some, such as Skip Bayless, believe that the league chose the Browns QB for a different reason.

Obviously, on sheer performance, he did not deserve to be in the Pro Bowl… The point was and is that on ‘draw’, he’s a Pro Bowler to me. On interest detonated, on magnetism, on eyeballs. People watch Shedeur Sanders.
Skip Bayless said on The Arena
From his analysis, the 74-year-old analyst assumes that the league has selected Deion Sanders’ son with the intention of reviving fan interest in the Pro Bowl games.

For long, many have ignored the week, even though the NFL introduced flag football, dodgeball, and a few more events to try to bring back excitement. However, even that has been fading, and Bayless believes the mere presence of a quarterback who regularly sells more jerseys than most of the players in the league is the right way.
