As soon as Kevin Stefanski, Shedeur Sanders, and the Cleveland Browns wrapped up their post-game interviews after their Week 18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the focus shifted to what the franchise will do next.

Naturally, the focus was on the head coach’s future, as his decisions throughout the past two seasons raised eyebrows, especially when it came to how he utilized his quarterbacks.

Soon, news broke that the 43-year-old was relieved of his duties as head coach after a six-year stint that resulted in a losing record of 45-56 games.

As reporters tried to get information about who the franchise is looking to hire, or what direction they will be taking with its roster, a certain Deion Sanders wrote this on X.

Lord I Thank You!

Deion Sanders wrote

The Hall of Famer is still listed as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. But many interpreted that message as a possible gratitude to God after the Browns finally got rid of Stefanski, who supposedly was never truly sold on his son, Shedeur Sanders.

Deion Sanders has posted such messages on numerous occasions. Usually, they have aligned with whenever he had a good day, or his quarterback son performed well for his team. He may have reiterated that he will not leave Boulder, Colorado. However, the timing of this message had everyone thinking that Sanders Sr. would be coaching his son soon.

Browns GM not committing to Shedeur Sanders as starter

Whether Deion Sanders becomes the head coach of the Cleveland Browns is a matter only time will tell. What is evident now, as per GM Andrew Berry, is that Shedeur Sanders is not guaranteed a position as a starter next season.

I think we saw a lot of progress with Shedeur this year. He’s still very much a work in progress, like many rookie QBs are… We are going to do our work on the QB market, it is too important of a position.

Andrew Berry told reporters

Berry stayed on as the general manager after Kevin Stefanski’s firing and will lead the team into a new era with a new leader at the helm. He stressed that the incoming head coach will decide who the team’s next signal caller will be.

The 38-year-old reiterated that their fifth-round pick still needs more development before they can comfortably hand the team over to him. With Deshaun Watson on track to return, Berry was not completely sure which direction they would take.

He added that the team will examine all available options, including their current quarterbacks, experienced veterans, and even the draft, to determine their course for next season.

Shedeur Sanders believes he has done enough to earn QB1 job

With his future unsure, reporters had to ask Shedeur Sanders whether he had done enough to secure a job on the Cleveland Browns next season.

I think I did what I was able to do. I definitely grew from a lot of things, and I have experience now. So, I’m always the same confidence-wise. It’s not in my hands, and I can’t speak on what other people feel.

Shedeur Sanders replied

The 23-year-old understands that his future is not in his hands, but believes that even though he has a lot to work on, he did whatever he could to at least throw his hat in the ring.

Some believe that the Texas native leading the team to a 3-4 record was enough proof that he should be given a full season as an audition. Offseason practices with the first team offense can bring out further refinements he was otherwise oblivious to this time.
