Since being overshadowed by his teammate Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders may not be projected as the first overall pick, but he certainly remains among the top 10 draft prospects of the 2025 NFL Draft. Like his father, he too has specific preferences regarding the teams he hopes to be drafted by, though he intends to keep them to himself.
One such incident happened during his recent conversation with Buffalo Bills wide receiver Drelon Miller on his podcast, 2Legendary. As the two get into the discussion of the New York Giants’ decision to bench Daniel Jones following their abysmal 2-8 season record, Miller suggestively hinted at the Colorado star quarterback getting drafted by the team.
Honestly I just feel like they gotta take a second to regroup. You know, just hopefully get someone good at the draft.
Drelon Miller said before coughing suggestively
Since Miller was being anything but subtle with his suggestion of Sanders replacing Jones and joining rookie star Malik Nabers in New York, Sanders kept smiling, before giving his candid take on the idea.
Come on, man, I don’t know. Nah I think it’s just up to the staff or up to the coaches at that point, I don’t know—no comment, that’s just a safe route for me. but… I would never pray on no team’s downfall, player’s downfall, anything. Because I wouldn’t want anybody to do that to me. That’s why I just don’t have a comment.

Even though the senior quarterback did not mention it specifically, he appeared to be open about playing for the Giants, who currently have the No. 4 draft pick for next April and may move up the ladder if the attempt with Tommy DeVito fails.
Sam Darnold and Justin Fields as potential replacements for Daniel Jones
While Sanders is certainly a draft prospect that the Giants must consider, two prominent quarterbacks, who are coming off an impressive season individually, are entering the free agency market. If the Giants indeed decide to trade Jones after giving all hope on him, Sam Darnold and Justin Fields are potential replacement options they may consider.

Since the Minnesota Vikings decided to bench J.J. McCarthy for his entire rookie campaign, they went ahead with Darnold as a starter and fortunately held an 8-2 record– second in the NFC North. He signed a one-year contract with the Vikings and is set to enter free agency in 2025.
Coming to Fields, who signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, started the 2024 season with a winning streak with them before ultimately being replaced by veteran Russell Wilson.
