Looks like Shedeur Sanders is taking family support to a whole new level, reflecting his unwavering loyalty to a family with great commitment to sneakers. The Colorado Buffaloes senior quarterback is turning heads not just with his football skills ahead of his NFL debut, but with his surprising dedication to a single sneaker brand: his dad’s. 

While attending the Super Bowl festivities in New Orleans, Shedeur– who’s among the two top quarterback prospects of the 2025 Class, was presented with a selection of super limited Jordan sneakers but he surprisingly declined. The 23-year-old is apparently committed to wearing only a specific kind of shoes, which belongs to his father’s signature Diamond Turf line.

As a true embodiment of loyalty, which is well-appreciated in the NFL, the young quarterback was not tempted by the splendid collection of Jordan, which is considered to be a dream of sneakerheads. But Shedeur wants to carry on his father, Deion Sanders’ legacy starting with his sneaker line, and may introduce his own variation to the design in the future.  

I don’t know. I’m at a dilemma here. I only wear dad’s shoes, so it’s like it’s cool, but it’s like. I gotta be true to who I am. I don’t wear nobody else’s shoes. I don’t wear Jordans. None of that. My Dad got his own shoe.

The Heisman Trophy finalist’s dedication stems from a desire to stay true to himself as he prepares for his journey to build a name for himself in the league. More than just a footwear choice, Shedeur’s stance reflects his strong bond with his father and head coach of Buffs, who brought him this far to be among the top five picks of the upcoming draft.

While the Dallas Cowboys legend’s heart is filled with pride seeing the buzz around his son, Shedeur’s draft prospects, he does have one concern which has also been caught by critics. Being father and son in the same line of profession, it’s impossible to avoid comparison and when it was done between Deion and Shedeur, the speed variation reflected quite a distinction. 

I don’t think Shedeur would be the quarterback he is if he had that. Because now he really has to use the intellect and instinct and understanding of the game and understand defenses and all that.

The Super Bowl champion was largely known for his speed while playing the cornerback position, which was called lightning speed. Though Coach Prime attempted to put a positive spin around his son’s lack of speed, he jokingly blamed it on Shedeur’s mother, Pilar.
