Shedeur Sanders had hoped his NFL debut would have gone at least a tad bit better. He was sent in to face the Baltimore Ravens, whose defense has suddenly become one of the best in the league.

Had it been the first few weeks of this season, the former Colorado Buffaloes star might have had it easier. Now, under different circumstances, his opponents gave him the best welcome to the league anyone could imagine.

A sack on his first drive and an interception on his next had the rookie in shambles. His final statistics of just four completed passes from 16 attempts, and an embarrassing quarterback rating of just 13.5, summed up what a bad debut could be.

The quarterback pointed the finger at himself, and he apologized to his teammates for not doing his part. Usually, that would be enough to spoil anyone’s Sunday, and probably the next few days.

But for Shedeur Sanders, the day was about to get worse. Pro Football Talk first reported that sources told them of a break-in at the Cleveland Browns quarterback’s home.

Browns’ beat writer Mary Kay Cabot confirmed the news that the 5th-round pick’s house was indeed broken into, but there are no further details about the incident.

This is a continuation of the struggles professional athletes have been facing over the past year, with the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Joe Burrow, and several others being targeted while they are at work.

Since their whereabouts are public knowledge, criminals find it easier to target their homes. Even though he is just a 5th-round pick, they are also aware that Sanders has earned millions and likes to spend on some luxurious items.

Cam Newton questions Kevin Stefanski’s motivation after disappointing Shedeur Sanders’ debut

Starting from preseason, it was clear that Shedeur Sanders was practicing with the scout team. Even after he was unsurprisingly promoted to QB2, the 23-year-old was not practicing with the first team, and that is where Cam Newton believes is the problem.

I do not think Kevin Stefanski wants Shedeur Sanders to succeed in Cleveland… For him (Sanders), to not have any reps… what are we doing here?

Cam Newton said on First Take

The former league MVP recalled how, during his time, his then-head coach Ron Rivera would ensure the Panthers’ backup QB would get a few reps with the 1st-team offensive unit.

The ESPN analyst ripped Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski for not thinking about contingencies, which are part and parcel of the NFL. Newton believes the head coach is to blame for Sanders’ embarrassing debut, as his teammates never had the opportunity to learn anything about his play.

Rex Ryan bizarrely questions Shedeur Sanders’ mindset after loss

Before Cam Newton spoke about Shedeur Sanders’ horrific debut, former head coach Rex Ryan was on Get Up, opining about the same topic.

Did he care? Or are you trying to make it a show of making it about yourself?

Rex Ryan said

Ryan did agree that there is a visible disconnect between Browns HC Kevin Stefanski and Shedeur Sanders. However, the former defensive specialist believes the rookie quarterback should have taken the opportunity to meet up with a two-time league MVP in Lamar Jackson.

He should have also been with his teammates after being the primary reason for this loss. Instead, Ryan believes the Buffaloes alum seemingly made it all about himself, knowing the cameras would be trained on him.
