Shedeur Sanders ditched the disappointment of being a fifth-round pick and visited a local Cleveland high school to promise to win the Super Bowl with the Browns.

Shedeur Sanders may have been drafted in the fifth round, but that doesn’t mean he can’t win a Super Bowl. In fact, sliding to the 144th pick has instilled a new vigor and hunger in the new Cleveland Browns quarterback. This is only the beginning.

For some, getting drafted is a big achievement. For Shedeur, the challenge is different. He plays to win and has done that with whichever team he has represented.

From winning the Deacon Jones Award at Jackson State as the nation’s top (historically Black university) to putting the Colorado Buffaloes on the map by reaching the school’s first bowl game since 2016, Sanders became a household name.

So, the draft day came as a surprise. Once touted as the first overall pick in the draft, Sanders slid to the fifth round, which came as a shock. Multiple reports about his attitude during the NFL scouting combine in February rubbed teams the wrong way.

The Browns ignored all the reports and drafted the 2024 FBS leader in completions. Sanders was the second rookie QB after Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel that the team of Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry selected in the draft. The additions took their quarterback count to five.

The number doesn’t frighten Sanders. He only has one goal. He wants to win the Super Bowl like his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders.

I’m trying to bring Cleveland a Super Bowl! But off the field, I want to bring more hope and positivity to the city, and connecting with young people is one of the best ways to do that.

Shedeur Sanders said at Cleveland’s John Marshall High School recently

He took photos, signed autographs, and left a powerful message that only a confident young man can send.

Super Bowl winner was surprised to see Shedeur Sanders being drafted in the fifth round

Former ESPN, FOX Sports contributor, and veteran sports analyst Skip Bayless was pissed with teams such as the Saints, Giants, and Steelers passing on Shedeur. According to Bayless, Sanders’ slide was monumental.

Bayless also criticized the minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Tom Brady, in a fiery post.

It is now pretty clear [that] Tom Brady, who mentored Shedeur, told the Raiders NOT to take him. Duly noted.

Skip Bayless wrote

Bayless got an answer. It wasn’t a pretty one. Brady, who gave tips to Sanders about how to be a good quarterback in the NFL, reportedly called Bayless an idiot.

Tom thinks that Skip Bayless is an idiot for thinking he had anything to do with Shedeur’s downfall in the NFL Draft. Tom has limited say in what players the Raiders pick in the NFL Draft or whomever they sign.

A Raiders Insider told the Daily Mail

The insider also revealed that the decision to draft a quarterback rests with the GM, head coach Pete Carroll, and owner Mark Davis.

Brady, in fact, was surprised to see Sanders being drafted in the fifth round. Former New York Giant and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan spoke with Brady, and he views this as an opportunity for Shedeur.

I spent time with Tom Brady this past weekend and we watched the draft and as Tom said, ‘He’s an example, it doesn’t matter when you’re picked.

Michael Strahan said

Sanders suffered a monetary blow because of his slide, but that’s only temporary. This puts a chip on his shoulder to perform well and prove his doubters wrong. He needs to focus on staying with the team long enough to get the starting job. Only the sky is the limit from there. He might become the next player since LeBron James to bring a championship to the city of Cleveland.
