Shedeur Sanders was in Pittsburgh on Thursday for a pre-draft visit at the Steelers’ facility. The AFC North team has quietly become one of the favorites to draft the departing Colorado quarterback after his draft stock took a hit in the last couple of weeks.

Obviously, the Steelers are still waiting for an answer from Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback remains undecided about his future, which has created tension in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers can reduce their headache by drafting Sanders. It’s unclear if their pursuit of Rodgers would end after that. However, the best-case scenario would be to sign Rodgers and draft Sanders.

Sanders reportedly met with head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan during the visit. After the tour ended, he spoke with Kay Adams of Up & Adams about his experience of the visit.

Sanders revealed the visit was a 10 in his books and understood the reason behind the franchise’s winning history. His favorite part of the day was talking football with the coaches.

Adams threw a curveball at the end of her Q&A session. She asked if the Steelers brass discussed anything about Aaron Rodgers. Sanders nodded his head from side to side and revealed there was no talk regarding the Super Bowl winner.

Will Shedeur Sanders be willing to learn from Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers remains a mystery figure. The New York Jets cut him following the disastrous 5-12 season. He became a free agent for the first time, but teams still viewed him as a good bridge quarterback.

The Minnesota Vikings, the New York Giants, and the Steelers were the three teams strongly linked with him. Rodgers, on the other hand, zoned in on the Vikings, but they opted for a different route, and he grew closer to signing for the Steelers.

There are only 14 days left for the NFL draft in his old stomping ground in Green Bay, but Aaron Rodgers remains a mystery. Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders has become a hot topic in Pittsburgh. As per the FanDuel Sportsbook, Sanders boasts a +600 odds to be selected by the Steelers at 21.

Now if both end up in Pittsburgh, Rodgers would take over the starting quarterback job, and Sanders would have to sit tight for a couple of years. So would he accept that scenario?

If that’s the way things play out then that’s how it plays out. I wouldn’t question what God has planned for me.

The Steelers need to move quickly. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed that players in the locker room are getting a bit restless regarding the quarterback situation.

From everything I’ve been told, is not solely to Cam Heyward. There are other people, certainly in the organization, the locker room, who are just going like, ‘What are we doing? We’re back for offseason workouts in 10 days. We’re coming up on the draft. What is the plan’?

It may turn out to be a draft boom

Sanders became a household name because of his performances for Colorado in the last two seasons. However, scouts and draft analysts flagged him for low athleticism and an average arm. FOX Sports Jordan Schultz claimed that the narrative should be put to rest.

Schultz spoke with an NFL executive who praised Sanders’ arm strength and decision-making skills under pressure.

One of the keys for any young quarterback is being able to define your game. And I’m not just talking about having a strong arm or being a leader. I’m talking about knowing where the pressure’s coming from on third down, knowing who’s hot, and beating a linebacker or edge rusher to the corner if needed. That’s where Shedeur [Sanders] excels.

Sanders completed an FBS record 74% of passes in 2024 despite taking 42 sacks. The Steelers’ offensive line is a work in progress, but it’s far better than either the Titans, Browns, or any other team that holds a top-10 pick. A strong O-line will help to elevate his game.
