Despite experiencing a few hiccups in his first full start as the Cleveland Browns quarterback, Shedeur Sanders achieved legendary status. Sanders became the first Browns quarterback since 1999 to record a win in their first start.

Sanders got his big break in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens. Kevin Stefanski subbed Sanders in after Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion. It wasn’t the outing he was hoping for.

Sanders, who did not practice a single snap with the first team, completed just 4 passes from 16 attempts for 47 yards and threw 1 interception. The Browns lost 23-16.

With Gabriel still in concussion protocol, Stefanski named Sanders as the Browns’ QB1 for the matchup between two-win teams in Vegas. Allegiant Stadium became the venue for the biggest game of Shedeur’s career, essentially serving as his audition to become the Browns’ signal caller.

Sanders passed with flying colors. He threw 11 completions from 20 pass attempts for 209 yards, including an eye-popping 53-yard bomb late in the first quarter that preceded a Quinshon Judkins rushing touchdown.

The 23-year-old also secured his career-passing touchdown on a screen pass to Dylan Sampson. Sampson maneuvered his way through the Raiders’ defense to score a 66-yard touchdown. The Browns won 23-10.

It was just the confidence booster Sanders needed to kick-start his NFL career after spending months as a third-stringer. Speaking with reporters after the game, Sanders confidently declared,

Nobody cares if it’s one week of prep… Who cares. You know, so a lot of people wanna see me fail. It ain’t gonna happen.

According to Associated Press’s Josh Dubow, Sanders became the first quarterback since Eric Zeier to win a game for the Browns on his first start, snapping a 17-game losing streak.

Sanders thanked the almighty for presenting this opportunity.

Six or seven months ago, I couldn’t have told you I’d be here. God is the only way I’m able to get through everything. Without God, nothing is possible, and I mean that truly and dearly. Everybody starts in different places; that’s just how life is.

Will Shedeur Sanders start for the Browns in Week 13?

Sanders’ game wasn’t without its issues, but he showed enough to warrant another start. Next week, the Browns face a much more difficult opponent, the San Francisco 49ers.

The Niners are 7-4 and have the chance of improving that record with a win over the Carolina Panthers on Monday.

Will Sanders play against the Niners at the dawgpound? Reporters asked Stefanski the same question, but the Browns head coach remained non-committal.

The Browns still have a shot at making the wildcard round, unlike the Giants, who were officially knocked out after their loss to the Lions. Whether Sanders will remain the quarterback is still uncertain.
