When everyone watched Todd Monken and Shedeur Sanders share heartfelt moments after the former arrived at the Cleveland Browns’ facilities, they shared a sense of relief that the new head coach seemingly believed in the rookie.
It felt as if it was a major departure from how Kevin Stefanski was, at least during the first half of the season, when the Colorado Buffaloes star was essentially cast away as an afterthought.
The former head coach preferred Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel before the former’s trade, and the latter’s injury forced his hand. Since then, Sanders has proved that he was better than his fellow signal callers despite not practicing with the first team offense.
With Monken greeting him well, fans believed this was going to be the start of a new era for the Browns, where a prolific play caller was going to extract the best out of the starting QB.
That’s what’s expected. I think each and every day, I have to prove to everybody and to myself also.
Shedeurs Sanders said on Up & Adams
This was the 23-year-old’s reaction when host Kay Adams asked him what he felt when head coach Todd Monken told reporters that Shedeur Sanders’ role next season is yet to be decided.

Even though the Texas native had a long face when he replied, it seems he understands that he still has to prove if he is worthy of becoming the starting quarterback for the Browns.
Shedeur Sanders wants to channel his confidence into consistency
While continuing to talk about his growth from a fifth-round pick to the starting QB of the Cleveland Browns, Kay Parker asked Shedeur Sanders if his confidence had changed.

Whenever I feel like me, then everything works out… I’ve proven to myself, I’m able to dominate the league… I know I’m capable of doing that. Now to do it on a consistent basis, that’s what the goal is.
Shedeur Sanders replied
The 144th overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft reiterated that he realized he can dominate, even though there were just flashes of his ability on display this past season.

Sanders wants to work on his consistency, knowing that it is what separates the best from the rest. The rookie also mentioned leaning on others who are good at what they do, as he wants to get advice from those who have proved they are capable starters.
Amidst the uncertainty, it seems that Shedeur Sanders wants to use the platform he has with the Cleveland Browns to become the player he had set out to be.
Shedeur Sanders learning from Michael Vick
One of the ways Shedeur Sanders can get access to many fellow football players who are known for their consistency is at the Pro Bowl games this year.
Knowing how the Browns QB has been working with AFC coaches Hall of Famer Steve Young and Michael Vick at the Pro Bowl, Kay Adams asked the young signal caller if he learns from the former Atlanta Falcons great.
Michael Vick, I talked to him… a lot during this year. He’s always been a great resource for me.
Shedeur Sanders replied
When asked how frequently Sanders was speaking with the 4-time Pro Bowler, the rookie revealed that he only talks when he really needs some advice, as otherwise, he is mindful of everyone’s private lives.

It seems the soon-to-be 24-year-old has his head perfectly on his shoulders and knows what he needs to do if he were to become a regular at the Pro Bowl, with his play helping to prove his critics wrong.
