Last season, the Pac-12 division witnessed something unusual. A team that had won just one game in the 2022-23 season was getting more hype than the best teams in the nation. The Colorado Buffaloes took the nation by storm after Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders committed to joining the program as head coach and quarterback, respectively.
The season did not go as the father-son duo had hoped for it. Despite a hot start, the team faltered for most of the season. However, quarterback Shedeur Sanders has not allowed one bad year to make a dent in his confidence. He is optimistic and motivated that the Buffaloes will be able to turn things around really quickly this season.
At his most recent press conference, Sanders reassured the team’s fanbase about the team’s odds this season. Tell whatever you want to about Shedeur Sanders, the one thing that he cannot be criticized about is his confidence levels.
I haven't pretty much gone this in my career. So far, I haven't really played that many games to where it came to the wire. We had like three four games and it's like, okay cool so that's why I say I got the layout of the land. Don't worry, we're in great hands, so then we're good.Shedeur Sanders said
The quarterback has been on the winning side of things for most of his life and he finds himself on the other side for the first time. Despite finding himself in unfamiliar territory, he is not allowing this setback to put a dent in his confidence.
Shedeur Sanders had a good showing in 2023-24 despite team’s poor show
Last season, the hype surrounding the Buffaloes was real. The team went on to win the first three games of its season and had the likes of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Michael Irvin, Terrell Owens, and other legends showing up for their games to cheer for them.
However, the Buffaloes’ season came to a halting stop as the team managed to just one more game and ended up with the worst record and at the bottom of the Pac-12 division.
Shedeur Sanders had himself a great year. He threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions last season. Despite the Colorado Buffaloes’ dismal record, he gave it his everything and played consistently throughout the year. He put himself in harm’s way and took more hits than he should have.
Shedeur Sanders proved one thing, that he can throw the ball and run it just as good. He also showed that even the biggest moments do not faze him. However, the team he was surrounded with did render him at a disadvantage. Because the offensive line could have done better and he lost his top target, Travis Hunter, to an injury.
This season is bound to be his last at the collegiate level and he is confident that it will be his best. Deion Sanders has ensured to improve upon the weaknesses in the roster by upgrading the Buffaloes’ O-line and defensive roster. Will this finally be the year that the team proves its worth? Hopefully, it is, because this is bound to be the last year that Shedeur will be the starting QB.
