Every year the NFL committee invites the potential top 10 picks for the Day One selection process. However, it appears that Shedeur Sanders, who is projected to be the first quarterback off the board revealed he would not be present for the ceremony.
While speaking with his older brother Deion Sanders Jr. on FaceTime, the 22-year-old shot caller revealed the plans for the NFL draft. Colorado fans won’t have the chance to witness one of their favorite sons hoisting his future NFL team’s jersey beside NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Deion Sanders Jr. asked Shedeur, “What are your draft plans?” Shedeur Sanders said that he doesn’t have all the details but he, Shilo Sanders, and Travis Hunter won’t attend the NFL Draft.

In December 2024, Colorado head coach and Shedeur’s father Deion Sanders, teased that they were going to skip the draft while appearing on the Rich Eisen Show. Coach Prime also kept the festive details under wraps. Yet, when Deion Sanders is involved fans can expect something special.
Is Shedeur Sanders a legitimate first-overall pick?
Sanders topped the charts for most analysts as the best NFL-ready quarterback in the draft ahead of the likes of Miami QB Cam Ward or 2022 and 2023 CFP champion Georgia QB Carson Beck. However, that doesn’t automatically replicate as to the first overall pick. Several NFL scouts don’t view Sanders as the first pick.
ESPN Draft specialist Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest draft list ahead of the CFP Semifinals suggests Shedeur Sanders will be the first quarterback to be taken in the draft but not the first overall pick. That honor belongs to Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
Sanders is fourth on the list behind Hunter, Penn State outside linebacker Abdul Carter at second, and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham at third. Currently, the 3-13 New York Giants hold the fourth pick and Sanders has shown interest in playing in the Big Apple linking up with Malik Nabers.
