There have been a lot of discussions about whether Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, he appears to be confident about his selection and the team that will choose him.
Sanders, who’s coming off a remarkable season of securing bowl eligibility for the first time after nearly a decade, finished his final year with a completion rate of 74.2%, 3,926 yards, and 35 touchdowns along with eight interceptions. While he’s projected to be one of the first top-five picks in next year’s draft, he is confident that he would be first.
During a recent practice session with his brother Shilo Sanders, the Buffs senior quarterback hinted that the New York Giants may be the team to select him in the upcoming draft since they are projected to have the first overall pick amid a 2-13 season.

Since releasing Daniel Jones after another disastrous season, the Giants are seeking rejuvenation with a desperate need for a franchise quarterback. However, they are not the only team with the worst season record. The Las Vegas Raiders were sitting pretty closely until they secured a victory and improved to 3-12, which may have jeopardized their draft projection of the first overall pick.
Shedeur Sanders maintains neutral stance on draft preferences amid Giants and Raiders speculation
As Shedeur was talking about the first overall pick, it remains a question whether he was talking about the Giants or the Raiders, as he and his father Deion Sanders are reportedly said to have a preference for the latter among the two aforementioned options.
Given the uncertainty surrounding which team will land the first pick, Shedeur is maintaining a neutral stance regarding his draft preferences. During a recent fan interaction, he replied with a one-word response, “Both,” when asked which team he preferred.
Currently, Shedeur is the favorite to become the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, followed by the Heisman finalist, Cameron Ward of Miami Hurricane. Before bidding the final goodbye to college football, Shedeur and his team Colorado are preparing for a final hurray in the Alamo Bowl against the BYU on the coming Saturday.
