Going up against the Buffalo Bills was going to be a tough task for Shedeur Sanders and his Cleveland Browns, as they were not in any kind of form with the rookie QB still coming to grips with his offense.
As was expected, the away team started well and led the Browns 20-10 at halftime. That lead grew to 13 by which time Sanders had thrown his second interception of the game.
Then, when many felt this was going to be the story of this game, the rookie rallied his troops to stage a comeback, scoring a touchdown. A field goal in the early minutes of the 4th quarter later, the home team was now within just three points. Even when the Browns’ defense did its part, their offense could not get anything going on the second-last drive, but were in position to do so again, with less than two minutes to go.
After failing to complete a pass on a 3rd and 1 to Jerry Jeudy, head coach Kevin Stefanski bizarrely pulled his quarterback and sent out his punt team. That ended their chances of trying for a win, which led reporters to ask Shedeur Sanders about it.
I know you can’t be asking me that question, man. C’mon man. If we want to change the narrative, the franchise, then we have to speak life. Those types of things separate us.

The rookie reiterated that such ‘controversial’ questions are becoming a problem for his team, as they are pushing the team apart. He believes that the team needs to be together, but these questions are attempting to force teammates to go at each other, or even their coaches.
Kevin Stefanski praises Shedeur Sanders’ effort
Shedeur Sanders has been avoiding questions directing him to speak ill of Kevin Stefanski or his teammates. When it was time for the head coach to talk about his QB, the 43-year-old said:
He battled like he does. I thought he made some unbelievable plays with his feet today. He’ll fight through injuries. A little finger injury is not gonna keep him out of there… Really proud of how he fought.
The head coach seemed proud of how his rookie, who once seemingly did not approve of the franchise’s decision to draft the QB, battled with a bleeding pinky, an ankle injury, and still made plays and steered them to come close to a win.

He spoke about how Sanders used his legs to extend plays when others usually stand pat and end up costing the team. If this praise was genuine, the Colorado Buffaloes star may have earned enough brownie points to have a long career in Ohio.
Shedeur Sanders lost his best running back for the season
One of the ways franchises helps young quarterbacks get acclimatized with the NFL is by using a lot of rushing plays to place them in easy-to-handle throwing situations.

Even though this was Shedeur Sanders‘ fifth full start, he still needs some assistance as he is still learning his teammates’ nuances as he plays every game.
Now, he will not have his best running back to help him in the final two games of the season. ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi revealed that Kevin Stefanski informed the media that rookie Quinshon Judkins had dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula.

That means it will be a long recovery before he can get ready ahead of the 2026 season. This might place some additional pressure on Sanders in their last two games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
