“You’ll be a fool not to pick me,” Shedeur Sanders makes strong statement ahead of NFL Draft

Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders says NFL teams that want to get back to winning ways must draft him otherwise they will be making a big mistake.

Shedeur Sanders didn’t work out during the NFL Combine, but he was seen in full action at the Colorado Buffaloes’ pro day. Sanders reportedly completed 58 passes from 63 throws. The drops were counted as mistakes by the receivers.

After completing his turn, Sanders sat down with the media and spoke his mind. While most mock drafts project that Miami’s Cam Ward is locked in as the No. 1 overall pick, Sanders believes it should be him amidst his falling draft stock.

All I need is an opportunity… Whatever franchise wants to change their franchise, then it’s no doubt who to go with. I’ve done it over and over and over. You’ll be a fool not to pick me.

Sanders may not have the same arm talent as Aaron Rodgers or the blistering pace of Lamar Jackson or Jayden Daniels, but he can hold his own during a game. Between the two years at Jackson State and two years at Colorado, Sanders threw a combined 14,327 yards, 134 touchdowns, and only 27 interceptions.  Despite moving to a different environment and a better division, Sanders’s numbers improved. At Colorado, alone, he threw for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns.

Sanders still has one trait that most quarterbacks in and around his age lack.

Let me ask you a question: What’s the most important trait of a quarterback? [It’s] Consistency?

Shedeur has his father/head coach, Deion Sanders‘s blessings. The NFL HOF has faith in his son abilities.

If it’s anybody built for this moment [the NFL], built to go to a team that’s really not good and take it to the next level, it’s him.

ESPN analyst shares concerning news regarding Shedeur Sanders’ falling draft stock

The four years of college football is proof enough that Sanders can cut it in the NFL. Especially his time at Colorado, where Coach Prime ran more of a pro-style offense suited for the NFL.

Pro Football Focus reported that 15.6% of Shedeur Sanders’s passes had a depth of 20+ air yards. He completed 34 of those 75 passing attempts (45.3%). What’s more impressive is he had zero turnover-worthy plays on 20+ yard passing attempts.

Despite the impressive numbers, scouts around the league don’t think too highly of Sanders. It has affected his draft stock. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Get Up that the Browns may no longer be too keen on taking Sanders at No. 2.

It feels more and more like Cam Ward one, Abdul Carter two, maybe Travis Hunter three.

Then again, a lot can change in the next three weeks until the draft kicks off in Green Bay. The New York Giants is the team strongly linked with Sanders. They have scouted him the most, with head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen visiting the Colorado training ground earlier this year.

Even though the Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and brought back Tommy DeVito, they can still select Sanders, keeping the future of the franchise in mind.

[The Giants] know everything that they need to know, good and bad, about Shedeur Sanders.

Dan Orlovsky’s view on the situation

Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky frequently shares his opinion on Shedeur Sanders. In a tweet, Orlovsky claimed that he always found Sanders’ tape intriguing and difficult to understand because of the offense. However, Sanders does have the talent to make it in the NFL.

While appearing on the latest episode of First Take, Orlovsky compared Sanders with a certain Miami Dolphins quarterback.

Tua [Tagovailoa] is my comp in many ways for Shedeur Sanders. Great ball placement, rhythm and timing, super smart, anticipatory thrower.

The ex-Lion stated that Sanders is like a point guard and a very efficient pocket passer. He will flourish in a system like the 49ers, Bengals, or Dolphins.
