Shedeur Sanders saved the Colorado Buffaloes once again, forcing the game with Baylor Bears into overtime with a breathtaking Hail Mary. The Buffs just keep on proving their doubters wrong.

After trailing most of the night, the Buffs equalized in the third quarter through Micah Welch, who snuck in a two-yard touchdown followed by an extra-point conversion from kicker Alejandro Mata. Sanders, by this point, had completed 16 passes for more than 200 yards.

Despite gaining ground, they fell behind as Baylor’s quarterback, Sawyer Robertson, threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Hal Presley. The situation looked dire for the Buffs, and the pressure showed up in their players’ actions.

With just 11 seconds left until the final whistle, Shedeur Sanders whipped a pass to Will Sheppard, but the Baylor corner made himself big and forced a drop. If Sheppard had caught the ball there, he would have easily scored the touchdown, forcing overtime. However, his drop meant the Buffs only had 2 seconds and the play clock to score.

Sanders launched a Hail Mary inside the Baylor red zone and was caught by LaJohntay Wester for a touchdown, saving the game for Colorado. The game was all square once more.

After the dramatic Hail Mary, Colorado had the chance to take the lead for the first time since the late first quarter. From 2nd & goal, Sanders handed the ball over to his running back Welch, who dived into the offensive line that gave up 8 sacks in the game.

Regardless, the line held off the Baylor blitz. In the meantime, Welch received a helping push from Shedeur as he scored to give Colorado the lead as Buffs fans flooded the turf, taking it as the winning TD. However, OT rules state that both teams must have the ball.

Baylor had the chance of their own to snatch a late win. Robertson faked the pass from 1st & goal and gave the ball to running back Dominic Richardson, who leaped over Colorado’s wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter who had 7 receptions for 130 yards in the game, causing the Baylor player to lose the ball mid-air. The Buffs recovered the loose ball and threw it out of bounds to win 31-38.

Shedeur Sanders finished the game with 25/41 for 341 yards and 2 passing touchdowns. Micah Welch rushed nine times for 22 yards and scored two touchdowns, while Wester, who caught the Hail Mary pass from Sanders, had four catches for 68 yards. It marked the Colorado Buffaloes’ first win over a Big 12 opponent since their switch to the conference earlier this year.
