Thursday night, college football fans saw something bizarre from Shedeur Sanders. The usually accurate Colorado Buffaloes quarterback threw an interception that will undoubtedly go down in the Interceptions Hall of Fame.
In the third quarter, on 3rd down, Shedeur Sanders threw the ball to its intended target, wide receiver LaJohntay Wester inside the red zone. However, even before the ball reached Wester, it hit North Dakota State Bison’s cornerback Anthony Chideme-Alfaro’s left leg.
After ricocheting Anthony’s leg the ball looped up and was then picked off by his teammate Nick Kubitz for an interception. It was clearly unintentional from Sanders and Kubitz was only right place at the right time to intercept the ball before it touched the ground.

To close for comfort, nevertheless, a win for Shedeur Sanders and Colorado Buffaloes
Since Deion Sanders took over at Colorado, the program witnessed massive changes. As many as 140 players (most of the scholarships and claimed through the transfer portal) saw their name on the Buffs roster in the last 12 months. Sanders fired more than half of his team from his first year in charge because they only managed 4 wins all season.
On the other hand, North Dakota State comprised of players who grew up in the program for the last 3 to 4 years rolled into Flosolm Park to make a point against Coach Prime’s team. They went into the break ahead leading the three points. Quarterback Cam Miller‘s 7-yard-rushing touchdown cancelled out scores from Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter who had 69 yards and 41 yards TDs.
The Buffaloes looked in dire trouble because their secondary was barely coping with the Bison’s attack. Shilo Sanders seeing back-to-back flags indicated that patience was running short.

Fortunately, the Buffs have Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who are projected to be top 10 picks in the 2025 draft. The pair combined to lodge a couple of touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to tie the game.
Miller pulled one back for the Bisons with a 20-yard rushing touchdown but it wasn’t enough for them to close the 5-point gap. On the last play of the night, he went for Hail Mary which ended up as a receiving pass. Unfortunately, the reception was 5 yards before the red zone when the clock struck zero. The game ended 31-26 in favor of Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.

Sanders finished with 26-34 for 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Hunter caught 7 passes for 132 yards and 1 touchdown while Jimmy Horn Jr. was the best receiver with 7 catches for 198 yards (28.3 yards per catch) and 1 touchdown. The Buffs’ next game is against the Nebraska Cornhuskers who finished 5-7 in 2023.
