Shedeur Sanders, without a doubt, wants Travis Hunter to win Heisman Trophy this season over himself

A good quarterback understands the importance of his wide receivers. A great quarterback goes one step forward and is not afraid to admit that he would not be successful without his top target. Shedeur Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes is the latter. He has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, worthy of being in the Heisman race but the award does not interest him.
Shedeur Sanders would rather his wide receiver and best friend Travis Hunter take home the coveted award. The dual-position athlete has left fans in awe with competitive performances on offense and defense, a feat that has not been done in college football in recent history. This year, the hype is not about a quarterback but it is for a cornerback/wideout to win the award. How often is it that fans get to see a player be the heart of an offense, score a touchdown, and then go right back to locking down the receivers of the other team?
Shedeur Sanders vouched for his teammate to win the award over himself this season. He believes that Hunter winning the Heisman would be the same as him winning it because ultimately, it was him who threw the passes to him.

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are the best duo in all of college football
The bigger reason that Sanders is hopeful that Hunter wins the coveted award is because of the sacrifice that he made by coming to an HBCU when he could have gone to a bigger school. Travis Hunter was pursued by the top colleges that were willing to offer the world for him to pick them, however, he turned all their offers down and chose Colorado because he knew that the Buffaloes would offer him what the rest could not. A chance to learn from Deion Sanders.
Hunter came to Colorado for Deion Sanders’ guidance and to help evolve his game to the next level. Coach Prime has been able to teach him a lot because he was also a dual-threat player who played on special teams and defense in the NFL. Hunter’s odds to win the Heisman Trophy are up there but the competition is intense this season.
Hunter has made his case on why he deserves to win the Heisman, but another player is on the road to making history. Boise State’s RB Ashton Jeanty is having a phenomenal year himself, and his stock continues to surge. This year, the award is unlikely to end up in the hands of a quarterback, which is a positive change since three of the four finalists to win the award in 2023 were quarterbacks.
