The Diamond League meeting in Lausanne was much anticipated, as some of the fastest women in the world took the field once again for the finals of the women’s 100m.

Elaine Thompson-Herah, the double Olympic champion had run the second fastest time in history just last week at the Eugene Diamond League, and was looking confident to break Flo Jo’s record in the finals.

Elaine would go up against her Jamaican counterparts and the Olympic podium winners, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sherika Jackson, as well as a rich field, including Marie Josee Ta Lou and Daryll Neita of Great Britain.

The race was off to a fast start, and to no one’s surprise, the Jamaican women dominated again. History would be scripted once again at the Diamond League, as it was Fraser-Pryce who would take gold this time.

Fraser-Pryce clocked the third fastest time in history after an incredible run, in a blistering time of 10.60s. It would go on to be a meet record it’s as well as a personal best for Fraser-Pryce.

Elaine Thompson-Herah would have to settle for silver, as she finished the race in 10.64s. It ended in a clean sweep for Jamaica as Sherika Jackson once again came third, with a time of 10.92s.

It was disappointment for Ta Lou once again, as she finished just outside the podium with a time of 10.94s, while Daryll  finished 5th with 10.96s, a personal best for her.

Ajla Del Ponte, Mujinga Kambundji and Alexandra Burghardt rounded off the field in what turned out to be a historic finals.
