Shelton Benjamin is one of the most underrated superstars to ever step foot in WWE. He has had countless memorable moments and won many championships in his career. However, there is one stain on his legacy that he wishes he could erase from history altogether. The Gold Standard openly discussed the controversial moment on social media.

He took to X and responded to a segment that occurred fifteen years ago in ECW. The Japanese wrestler Yoshi Tatsu made his debut against Shelton Benjamin in a singles match. However, some of the things said by the commentator, Matt Striker, during his entrance were horrible. While he was making his way to the ring, Striker stated that his name was “funny to say.” It showed how some of the segments were executed under Vince McMahon‘s regime.

However, what Benjamin did to his opponent was far more disgusting. The 48-year-old veteran, who was playing a heel character at the time, decided to mock Tatsu by doing bizarre Japanese impressions. He responded to the video on X, condemned his actions, and expressed his complete opposition to racism. The World’s Greatest Athlete said that he liked how the match ended, as Tatsu finished it with a devastating kick to the head.
