Shilo Sanders shared a lighthearted response as his younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, went unselected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Both brothers, former Colorado Buffaloes standouts, entered the draft with different expectations.

Shedeur, projected as a first-round pick, had been linked to several teams, while Shilo was considered a fringe late-round prospect. He had initially been rumored as a potential top-10 selection, with teams like the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants showing interest.

The Giants, who traded for the 25th pick, seemed like a possible landing spot but ultimately chose quarterback Jaxson Dart instead. Despite strong pre-draft evaluations, Shedeur’s name was not called on the first night.

As the first round concluded, Shedeur remained undrafted, sparking reactions from his family and teammates. His close friend and former teammate, Travis Hunter, visibly expressed frustration when the Saints passed on him.

Deion Sanders, their father and Colorado’s head coach, also appeared surprised as the night unfolded.

Shilo, addressing the situation with humor, shared his reaction in a video posted during the draft.

I don’t even know what they going to do with me… if they making him wait, Oh buddy.

Shedeur Sanders is still undrafted after Day 2 as teams question leadership, fit, and maturity

Many expected Shedeur Sanders to be drafted on the second day of the draft at least. However, every franchise skipped out on the individual who was once thought to be a first-round pick.

Shedeur Sanders also noted that he didn’t expect this at his watch party yesterday.

We all didn’t expect this, of course. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All this is, of course, fuel to the fire. We all know this shouldn’t have happened. But we understand, we’re on to bigger and better things.

There are a few elements to pick apart in this. The key aspect is being in a team with a potential two-way star, Travis Hunter. The wonky offense in Colorado seemed a perfect place with a key offensive talent for a quarterback to also shine, however, the individualistic presence lacked under Deion Sanders. Shedeur Sanders, in the herd, and outside it were different in many ways.

Furthermore, Sanders hasn’t proven that he can lead with a weak offensive front. He has quite a few issues with holding the ball too long and a cerebral way of playing the game. However, this might not translate well into the nature of the game.

The franchises like the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints have voids in the offense, whose presence is much needed for the success of Sanders as a player. Unless and until he has a core to throw like Hunter, Sanders is not an alternative that teams might choose.

In all this, there’s the hidden but very important ideal of drafting that came out properly during the past few weeks. It is the importance of personality and one’s character. Sanders has been criticized for his behavior to the point that analysts came out calling out the media for the intense scrutiny.

He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates, but the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.

a coach told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero

The comment is not a singular one either. One assistance coach described the interview with Sanders as the worst ever. The whole deal and draft tank has shown that the nature of how one interacts and builds relationships is as important as one’s football skills. Now, out of the third round, Sanders can learn and show that the people were wrong in missing out on him.
