The name R. J. Hampton might not ring a major bell amongst NBA fans. He is mostly known for being part of the trade package that brought Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets, which helped them clinch the 2023 NBA title.
Once touted as an intriguing prospect, Hampton has since bounced around. Now playing in the G League, he finds his name back in the news. If it was for basketball reasons it could be appreciated by fans. But instead, his name is now splashed across all social media platforms for the wrong reasons.
A video leaked by Tiffany Jeffcoat, the mother of his child, shows Hampton and herself along with their kid in a hotel. There, an altercation takes a stunning turn. As they continue to argue, he talks about her trying to gain sympathy for him laying hands on her. When she countered him by saying that she had pictures to prove her bruises, he laughed it off.

Then as she continued to state that he caused those bruises with his own hands, he pretty much accepted it.

All of this was going on with their child in front of them. Admitting to physically hurting the mother of his child seemingly threw the discourse off course.
The details of this domestic situation between them remain unknown. In another clip, Jeffcoat claimed that the former NBA first-round draft pick left her stranded in Oklahoma after he left with their baby.

Domestic violence is a serious matter. Especially when it comes from athletes, critics view it as a mix of ego and aggression. Being in the public eye also does not do them any favors. Fans of basketball had this in mind when watching the clip of R. J. Hampton openly admitting to laying his hands on Tiffany Jeffcoat.

Some fans, however, did not want to jump the gun. They opined that until the full details were out, it was unfair to judge Hampton. That said, most pointed out that resorting to physical violence is never the answer.
