Shohei Ohtani stole all the spotlight in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers. The 2024 NL MVP hit 3 home runs and struck out 10 batters in an all-time performance. Fans on social media would lose their minds after this.

The Dodgers, who got swept by the Brewers in the regular season, entered Game 4 hoping to sweep the NL Central champions. Following dominating pitching performances from Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow, it was time for Ohtani to take the mound in Game 4.

In the first inning, he picked up 3 strikeouts after walking Brice Turang. He struck out Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich, and William Contreras and asserted his dominance from the start.

He then led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run off Jose Quintana to give his side an early lead. Singles from Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez gave the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, he crushed his 2nd home run of the game. A towering shot off Chad Patrick would go 469 feet deep into the stands and make it a 4-0 game. He also kept on picking up strikeouts and frustrating the opposition hitters.

He left the game as the pitcher after throwing 6 scoreless innings. He picked up 10 strikeouts and gave up just 2 hits in a dominating showing from the mound.

In the 7th inning, he slammed another home run. His 3rd solo shot of the game sent the fans inside Dodger Stadium in pandemonium as the team inched closer to a historic sweep.

While Blake Treinen did give up a run in the top of the 8th inning, the Dodgers’ bullpen was able to get the job done. Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki, once again, came out in the 9th inning and picked up the 3 outs, which saw the Dodgers complete the sweep of the Brewers and claim the National League Pennant.

This year, the Dodgers’ pitchers were the ones who shone brighter than their offense in the NLCS. After Ohtani’s incredible presentation in both departments in Game 4, he became the clear favorite for the MVP award.

Last year, Tommy Edman was named the MVP of the NLCS. The Dodgers and Ohtani will now have to wait for at least another day to find out who they will be facing next.

The Seattle Mariners edged out the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 in Game 5 thanks to a grand slam from Eugenio Suarez. Game 6 of the ALCS will be played on Sunday. A win for the Mariners would see them go through. A Blue Jays victory would force Game 7.
