There seems to be some fresh trouble for Shohei Ohtani. The 3-time MLB Most Valuable Player (MVP) and his agent have been accused of allegedly sabotaging a real estate property in Hawaii of around $240 million. This development sparked some wild reactions among fans on social media.

As per reports, a real estate broker and real estate investor are suing Ohtani and his agent, Nez Balelo. They claimed that the Dodgers star and his agent got them fired from a $240 million luxury housing development on the Big Island’s coveted Hapuna Coast that they brought him in to endorse.

As per the lawsuit filed in the Hawaii Circuit Court, the two of them were accused of using Ohtani’s celebrity leverage to destabilize real estate developer Kevin J. Hayes Sr. and real estate broker Tomoko Matsumoto‘s role in the project and push them out of the deal. According to them, they pushed them out of this project for their “own financial self-interest.

The lawsuit also expressed that the developers had spent more than a decade on this deal and signed an endorsement deal with Ohtani in 2023. They alleged that Balelo increasingly demanded concessions and threatened to pull out the two-way star if they were not made. Ohtani and his agency have not made any comments as of yet.

The $240 million Big Island development situated along Hapuna Beach is rated as one of the top beaches across the world. Ohtani, who has been dubbed the “Japanese Babe Ruth“, was committed to buying one of the properties and listed as one of the “celebrity spokesperson” for the development project.

Ever since the news broke out, Ohtani found himself under severe criticism. Several social media users took a swipe at him, while some brought up the betting scandal of Ippei Mizuhara, his former translator. One user on X wrote, “Lock this thug up” while reacting to this development.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

Last year, his former translator, Ippei Mizuhara, was arrested for stealing $17 million from Ohtani’s bank accounts. He would impersonate as Ohtani and withdraw money from his account to pay off his gambling debts.

Earlier this year, he was sentenced to 57 months in prison. The MLB would also conduct its own investigation into this matter and would find Ohtani not guilty of any wrongdoing.

Amid legal troubles, Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves losing grip of division lead

While Shohei Ohtani has once again found himself in the center of some legal trouble, he and his team are losing their grip on the division lead. On Monday, the Dodgers suffered another defeat against the Los Angeles Angels, which put them in a troubling situation.

The team found themselves 7-0 down by the 6th inning as the Angels pounced on Yoshinobu Yamamoto in this game. Ohtani hit his 42nd home run of the season, which was later followed by a 3-run shot from Max Muncy to make it a 7-4 game in the 8th inning.

However, the Dodgers were unable to score any more runs and lost the game 7-4, their 4th loss against the Angels this season. Following this loss, their division lead over the San Diego Padres narrowed down to 1 game.

The two NL West teams will battle each other next. They would then engage in a 3-game series at Petco Park next weekend as well. By that time, the NL West standings could look a bit different.

Before that, Ohtani is expected to start the series finale against the Angels. If he does that, it would be his first time facing the Angels as an opposition pitcher, having played from them from 2018 to 2023.
