In an interview at All-Star festivities, New York Yankees star Juan Soto’s reply to who he wants to team up with in the future excited the fans on both the NL and AL sides. One reporter questioned just like how LeBron James and Steph Curry will be playing on the same team this summer, which player would Soto want to play with.

To the question, the Yankees star noted that it’ll undoubtedly be the rising Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani. He said, “I mean, Shohei would be one of the best.” Soto further explained how it’s difficult it is for them to team up considering they both play for different leagues.

Juan Soto said, although “it’s been a little tricky”, Shohei Ohtani will be one of his first choices to play with. Later, the Japanese pitcher responded with the same sentiment saying, “To put it simply, I’m honored.”

Ohtani’s reaction to Soto’s comments thrilled the fan base, as they are now counting the days they can possibly see such a matchup on the field. With Soto’s contract ending after this season, the NY Yankees will either have to re-sign the outfielder or, although it’s a long shot, maybe he can make his dream come true by joining the Dodgers.

After getting traded from the Washington Nationals to the San Diego Padres and later to the NY Yankees, the 25-year-old now wants to be somewhere for the long term. He revealed how he hates changing jerseys so often.

It’s a little uncomfortable wearing different jerseys and changing teams. I’m looking forward to wearing one for a long time.

If the Yankees plan on keeping Soto, they’ll have to pull some big moves. However, it’ll entirely depend on what Soto wants in the future. He once claimed that Yankees fans are “the most impressive” he’s played for. Nothing is certain as of now, apart from speculative rumors. It’ll be worthwhile to wait and see which team he goes for.
