Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers emerged as 6-5 winners in a classic Game 3 on Monday night. After the game, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider got slammed by the fans for intentionally walking Ohtani 4 times in the game.
The reigning National League MVP was in red-hot form in this game. He first clubbed a solo home run in the 3rd inning to extend his team’s lead to 2-0. After the Blue Jays came back and turned the game around in the top of the 4th inning through a 3-run home run from Alejandro Kirk and a sacrifice fly from Andres Gimenez, Ohtani struck again.
A 2-run double in the bottom of the 4th inning from him cut the deficit to 4-3. Freddie Freeman followed this up with a single and tied the game at 4-4.
The Blue Jays took the lead again in the 7th inning. A single from Bo Bichette, who was controversially tagged out in the 2nd inning, saw Vladimir Guerrero Jr. come all the way from first base to put them in front.
Ohtani then fired back again. The Japanese international hit his 2nd home run of the game (his 8th of the 2025 postseason) to even the scores again. Following that shot from him, the game turned out to be a battle between the two bullpens.
As the game went into extra innings, the Blue Jays decided not to take chances against Ohtani. Manager John Schneider would allow his team to intentionally walk the 31-year-old 4 times. A four-pitch walk in the 17th inning saw him claim his 5th walk.
Ohtani finished the game with 4 hits and 5 walks. He managed to reach the base 9 times in the game, the most in a postseason game.

The Dodgers ended up winning the game in the 18th inning following a walk-off home run from Freeman. His solo shot off Brendon Little made him the first player to have multiple walk-off home runs in the postseason.

After the game, Schneider was asked about the decision not to throw the pitch to Ohtani in the extra innings. The skipper expressed that they wanted to take the bat out of his hands. He would then drop a one-word answer when asked if this strategy would continue in the upcoming games.

Shohei Ohtani scripted history as he reached base 9 times in Game 3 following 4 hits and 5 walks. After the game, the two-way star would drop a hilarious reaction regarding his mindset for Game 4.

Ohtani will be on the mound and go up against Shane Bieber on Tuesday. After MLB insider Tom Verducci reminded him that he was the starter for Game 4, the 3-time MLB MVP simply claimed that he wants to sleep as soon as possible to get in shape for the action on Tuesday.
I want to go to sleep as soon as possible so I can get ready.
Shohei Ohtani said through his interpreter Will Ireton

Ohtani had a dominating performance from the mound in his previous start. He would pick up 10 strikeouts while throwing six scoreless innings against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS. A similar performance in Game 4 could put the Dodgers one step closer to retaining their crown.
