The Los Angeles Dodgers captured their 2nd successive World Series title on Saturday following an epic comeback win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7. During the title celebrations on Monday, team superstar Shohei Ohtani sent a three-peat message to the fans in English.

The Japanese international was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers in Game 7. This start came just 3 days after he was the losing pitcher in Game 4.

The two-way struggled a bit from the mound. After two hard-fought innings, he gave up a massive home run in the 3rd inning.

After the team intentionally walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette crushed a 3-run home run to center field and put the Blue Jays 3-0 up in the third inning. Ohtani was later taken off the mound and replaced by Justin Wrobleski.

Fortunately for Ohtani, he avoided being the losing pitcher once again in this series. With his team 4-2 down, Max Muncy clubbed a towering home run against Trey Yesavage in the 8th inning. In the 9th inning, the Dodgers leveled the game at 4-4 through an unlikely source in the form of Miguel Rojas.

Will Smith launched the Dodgers’ third solo home run of the game in the 11th inning. The catcher’s blast against Shane Bieber in this inning proved to be the difference as the Dodgers picked up a double-play in the next frame and repeated as World Series Champions.

The Dodgers became the first team in 25 years to go back-to-back. Before this season, the last team to successfully defend its title was the New York Yankees in 2000. That year, the Bronx Bombers completed a three-peat of the title.

During the World Series title celebration on Monday, Ohtani would deliver a message to the Dodgers fans. He would speak in English without the use of his interpreter, Will Ireton, and expressed that he was ready to win another ring next year.

I want to say I’m so proud of this team, and you guys are the greatest fans in the world. I’m ready to get another ring next year.

Shohei Ohtani said in his speech

Ohtani had a slash line of .333/.500/.778 in the World Series this year. He finished the postseason batting with a .265 average and had 8 home runs and 14 RBIs in 17 games.

Shohei Ohtani seemingly trolls Drake following World Series triumph

Shohei Ohtani is a World Series champion again. In his 2nd season with the team, the two-way star claimed his 2nd championship ring. Following their victory on Saturday, the 31-year-old seemingly trolled music artist Drake on Instagram.

The Canadian international was highly active on social media during the Blue Jays’ playoff run. He dropped a 3-word reaction when the American League team made it through the Fall Classic for the first time in 32 years.

After the Blue Jays won Game 5 and took a 3-2 series lead, he took a dig at Ohtani. Drake would take to his Instagram account and post two stories about Ohtani, trolling the Dodgers’ star for his failure in Game 5.

It seems Ohtani has now hit back at the rapper. In a post on Instagram, the 3-time MLB MVP shared a carousel of pictures from the victory parade and added the song “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar.

Drake’s differences with Lamar are well-documented. The LA-born rapper found himself in the midst of controversy after performing the song live during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Shohei Ohtani named as 2025 NL MVP finalist

Shohei Ohtani capped off another successful year with a World Series championship. The two-way superstar on Monday was then named as one of the three finalist for the National League MVP accolade.

Ohtani was named the unanimous winner of this award last year after he founded the 50-50 club. He became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and have 50 stolen bases.

This year, his bat continued to rake. He became the first player after Alex Rodriguez in 2002 to hit 50 home runs in back-to-back seasons and ended the campaign with 55 home runs.

He has now been named as one of the three finalists, along with Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies and Juan Soto of the New York Mets.

Schwarber finished second in the entire league for the most home runs with 56, just 4 behind leader Cal Raleigh. The designated hitter (DH) of the Phillies cashed in 132 runs as well.

Meanwhile, Soto smashed a career high of 43 home runs this year. In his first season with the Mets, following the massive $765 million deal. Apart from this, he had 105 RBIs and batted with a .263 average. Despite these amazing numbers, his side failed to qualify for the postseason.

Ohtani is the heavy favorite to win this award again this year. This would become his 4th MVP award and make him just the 2nd player in history to win this award 4 times. The only player to claim this honor more times than him would then be Barry Bonds, who won it 7 times (4 consecutive from 2001-2004).
