Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani underwent successful torn labrum surgery on Tuesday. He injured his non-throwing arm during Game 2 of the World Series in an attempt to steal second base.
His awkward slide to the base resulted in partial shoulder dislocation, but he continued to play in the Fall Classic. Ohtani noted that it had to be a broken bone for him to get off the field during WS.
Later, Shohei Ohtani was seen on the field with a strap across his shoulder to support his arm. His tenacity in fighting off the pain and batting during the World Series earned him praise throughout the baseball community.
Only after the announcement of the surgery, the fans got to know the seriousness of the situation as the team earlier downplayed it. Thankfully, as per recent updates, the Japanese star can join the team during Spring Training. He is also expected to start pitching soon.

Since his elbow surgery last fall, Ohtani has not taken the mound. While his recent surgery does not imply a negative effect on his pitching hand, it can’t be said for sure. They’ll have to wait and see if everything goes alright during recuperation or Ohtani needs more time to recover.
The torn labrum surgery was done by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles. Despite the tear, he geared up for Game 3 to Game 5 although he looked uncomfortable during batting at times. The good news for the fans is that Shohei Ohtani is on his way to healing and is expected to join the team soon.

Following the win, Ohtani commented, “My first year and experience winning a World Series has been a tremendous honor.” Fans are also wishing him a swift recovery on social media.

While Shohei Ohtani is now concentrating on recovering from his surgery, the Dodgers are undergoing massive changes. A couple of players who were part of the World Series may not be on the roster by the time Ohtani returns.
With the free agency going on, the team will add and re-sign new players, while letting some test free waters in hopes for a new team. They’ll once again look to challenge MLB teams in order to clinch yet another World Series Championship.
