After the collapse of the 2024 season, the Chicago Bears may have learned one lesson: they can be contenders with the No. 1 overall picked quarterback and a few offensive weapons. This offseason, the team appears to be addressing those shortcomings, but an NFL analyst wants them to take a hard look at the struggling defense and consider trading Jaylon Johnson for Myles Garrett.
While the Bears have solidified the head coach position by hiring Ben Johnson, they need to start focusing on the defensive side of the ball, or roster in an extended sense. During a recent episode of ESPN Chicago radio, host John “Jurko” Jurkovic drew a hypothetical scenario, where he would trade Johnson– known by his reputation as one of the best cornerbacks in the league to the Cleveland Browns if that’s what it takes to acquire four-time All-Pro Garrett.
If I was going to trade for your guy, Myles Garrett for Jaylon Johnson. I got a top 100 football player in the NFL. Myles Garrett also got a little bit of dog in him. I’d move Jaylon Johnson. The reason I say Jaylon Johnson, you’ve got depth in the defensive backfield. I still want the picks, because you want to have young talent. You got to develop young talent to be able to maintain whatever you think you’re going to have over the course of a lifetime.

Although it’s undeniable that Johnson is a standout defensive player in the Windy City, Jurkovic is convinced that the team would have a better chance at being a Super Bowl contender if they had Garrett. Johnson is currently under contract for the next three seasons, after the Bears decided not to trade him last offseason.
Eagles’ AJ Brown wants Myles Garrett to join forces with Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith for dominant defense
As far as Garrett’s future in the league is concerned, the Bears aren’t his only option. The six-time Pro Bowler requested the trade from the Browns only to earn the accolade of Super Bowl champion before hanging his cleats and interestingly, the Super Bowl LIX champions have a good chance of acquiring the star defensive player.

Wide receiver AJ Brown has urged the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire Garrett using their available $19 million salary cap space, believing he’s worth all of it, especially since they are aiming to establish the team as a dynasty with consecutive Super Bowls next season.
Brown wants the star pass rusher to be paired with Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith to make Philly’s defense as formidable as their offense. In his eight seasons in the league, he recorded 102.5 sacks with sparkling titles like six Pro Bowls, four All-Pros, and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year.
