Signing Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Solve Steelers’ Quarterback Problem, Feels Chase Daniel
Chase Daniel suggests the Pittsburgh Steelers would be better off if they had signed Matthew Stafford instead of Aaron Rodgers.

After nearly two months of tip-toeing around, Aaron Rodgers has finally signed a one-year, $19.5 million deal, of which is $10 million guaranteed, with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 41-year-old quarterback is likely playing in his final season. His addition to the Steelers significantly improves their prospects of winning.
It is a move that can prove to be exciting; however, until fans see which version of Aaron Rodgers the Steelers are getting, it will be hard to determine how far the team can go this year. One of the more outspoken critics of Rodgers has been former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Chase Daniel.
Daniel is not buying into the Aaron Rodgers hype train. Previously, Daniel has admitted that even though the quarterback makes the Steelers a better team than they would be if Mason Rudolph were the starter, he does not believe that A-Rod is good enough to lead them to a Super Bowl.
Daniel doubled down on his belief earlier today, as he thinks that the Rodgers-Steelers deal is nothing beyond a one-year rental.
When you get a guy, a future Hall of Famer, for $13 million, that is very cheap, they won that, no doubt about it. But then you look at what they could have had, and they wanted five other guys before Aaron Rodgers. Like their number one was Matthew Stafford. That’s how I see the only way they got this right was if they would have gotten Matthew Stafford because you know you got a franchise guy for the next two or three years. With Rodgers, it is a one-year rental.

Daniel has an issue with the Steelers bringing on a guy who is likely going to retire after this season. For a team that lost in the Wild Card Round last year, he has little faith that the addition of Rodgers will be enough to lead them to a Super Bowl.
.@ChaseDaniel says the Steelers signing Aaron Rodgers doesn’t answer their QB questions:

Chase Daniel does not see Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers making it to the playoffs
From Daniel’s perspective, this year will be a lot different because the AFC North will have improved versions of the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals. In this mix, there is little room for a shaky Pittsburgh Steelers team to place high enough to qualify for the postseason.

I still don’t see them making the playoffs, and if they do, I don’t see them winning a playoff game…The Aaron Rodgers-led Packers or Jets have not made the playoffs in three years…I just don’t know why all of a sudden we think that this Rodgers team is going to make the playoffs and make some noise…
The analyst concluded by expressing little faith that Pittsburgh will see an outcome similar to last season despite adding Rodgers to the mix. Aaron Rodgers is an elite quarterback, but he has not shown that he can lead a team to a Super Bowl since 2010. In the past three years, he has not even made it into the playoffs.
Additionally, the Steelers’ offense lost more in the off-season than it gained. Najee Harris, the leading rusher for the team, is no longer with the franchise, and George Pickens, the leading receiver, is gone. The team did add DK Metcalf, but historically, teams that have lost their most productive running back and receiver have not had successful seasons immediately after.
Chase Daniel further expressed concerns about the Steelers’ defense. Despite Mike Tomlin’s elite playbook, Pittsburgh is not as dominant on defense as it once was. The Rodgers-Steelers bond seems more like an experiment. It is hard to fathom the quarterback coming back for another year, which is why it is best that Steelers fans not expect too much of Rodgers this year.
