Simon Katich did not hesitate to berate Mohammed Siraj during Day 2 of the third Test match in the ongoing BGT.

India had a hectic day on the field on the second day of the third Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 at the Gabba in Brisbane. Much of it was due to the partnership between Travis Head and Steve Smith. Smith was back in form with a 101-run innings off 190 balls. On the other hand, Head plundered the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground with an innings of 152 runs off 160 balls.
The Indian bowlers looked clueless when Head went about his business with his counterattacking shots. One such incident was on display when Mohammed Siraj bowled a short ball to Head on the first ball of the 60th over without proper field placement. The Aussie batter ramped the delivery over the slip cordon for a boundary. Former Australian batter Simon Katich called it ‘dumb’ live on air.
That is unbelievable from Mohammed Siraj. Because the over before he had a man right in that spot, and he’s run in and bowled what they were planning without the fielder there. That is dumb. Dumb cricket.
Simon Katich said during commentary on 7Cricket
Head took the game away from India’s grasp with 18 boundaries in his innings. He has been dangerous against the Indian bowling lineup in the last two years in all formats of the game. Head scored a century against India in the WTC 2023 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final, winning the game for his side on both occasions. In the last Test match, he was the point of difference after smashing a 141-run innings against India in Adelaide.
Australia are 405/7 at the end of Day 2
The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, won the toss and elected to bowl first in overcast conditions on Day 1. However, only 13 overs were bowled on the day before rain halted play and Day 1 was washed out. On Day 2, Australia cruised to a dominant position in the game. Jasprit Bumrah was the lone warrior for Team India with five wickets. Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked one wicket each.

The series is tied at 1-1, with India winning the first Test in Perth by 295 runs and Australia coming back with a 10-wicket victory in the pink ball Test in Adelaide. There is rain forecast on all of the remaining three days of the Gabba Test, but India definitely has their backs against the wall.
