The Romanian superstar Simona Halep is currently ranked no.3 on the WTA Rankings. Her return to the tour post pandemic has been a good one. She has won the Prague Open, the Italian Open, and reached the fourth round of the French open. The last tournament she played was the Australian Open 2021, where she reached the Quarter Finals. In the Quarters she lost to Serena Williams, 6-3 6-3.
Simona Halep thinks Novak Djokovic is an example for every athlete. She says that Djokovic never gives up on the court, and will play on even with an injury. She thinks that Djokovic can withstand pain, and has amazing motivation to win on the court. In her own words, “Djokovic is an example for his strength. He doesn’t give up, even if he has little pains he calls the doctor and keeps playing. His motivation is amazing.”
Miami Open is the next stop for Simona Halep
After an excruciating defeat, more mental than physical, at the hands of Serena Williams, Simona Halep reacted by withdrawing from both the Qatar and the Dubai Open. She said that she was not feeling ‘100%’. Post that, she confirmed that she will in fact participate in the Miami Open.
Last year, Simona Halep decided not to travel to the USA due to the Corona Pandemic. But, now that she is vaccinated against the disease, she has decided that she wants to travel and be a part of the Miami Open. Interestingly Simona Halep has never won the Miami Open. Not only that, she has never been to the Final of the tournament either. Her best finish was a Semi final appearance in 2019, where she was beaten by Karolína Plíšková 7-5 6-1.
