The Paris Olympics 2024 selection marked a huge occasion for Simone Biles. “Déjà vu but also, I feel like a little bit like a redemption tour,” as Biles explained in an interview. The decorated athlete had suffered with the ‘twisties’ in Tokyo and had to pull out of many games. However, the team has planned on going from silver to gold.

Jonathan Owens Skips Training Camp for Simone Biles

Jonathan Owens had just signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears after playing one season with the Green Bay Packers. Nevertheless, the Chicago Bears granted the NFL player a couple of days off to see Simone Biles compete in the Olympics.

The Bears’ training camp starts on the 23rd of July, three days before the Olympics. This would mean that Owens opted to miss out on a handful of his training camp to watch Simone perform. The gesture was taken particularly well by the fans.

Although they have been together since 2020, this would be Jonathan’s first time attending any of her major international competitions. Back in 2020, he did not get to see her in the Tokyo Olympics due to Covid regulations.

Biles started gymnastics at the age of six. Despite the long practice, her career had obstacles all over it, scattered in both ups and downs. She admitted to being scrutinized by public opinion in terms of her mental and physical health. Nonetheless, the Paris Olympics will mark her another chance at redemption.
