Simone Biles is ready for the 2024 Paris Olympics after qualifying US Trials with exemplary performance. While making her comeback to the Olympic stage following the 2021 Tokyo Games, she took a hit at critics who questioned her mindset and consistency, while balancing humor alongside it.

During an interview, she recalled an old incident where Biles called 2016 Olympic gymnastics captain Aly Raisman a “grandma”. The 27-year-old now feels “way older” than she expected as she jokingly apologizes to Raisman for her past remark. She added that “it is crazy” how life passes by, discussing aging in a sport that prioritizes youth.

Being an inspiration for younger athletes, Biles admits to realizing her older notions and expresses she intends to correct them. Starting with her apology, she notes,

I definitely have to apologize to Aly calling her ‘grandma’ because woo, I feel like I’m way older now than me calling her grandma when we were younger.

Simone Biles further adds, how it’s past her bedtime now and how she is even forgetting “the rest of the [interview] question”. She states that she now approaches health and injuries in a completely different way versus then. Comparing her past self to “a little hamster on a wheel,” the 27-year-old says she’ll take recovery “a little bit more serious.”

Starting by thanking her therapists, medical staff, family, friends, and teammates, she talks about her husband Jonathan Owens, and how his support reinforced her dream. Simone Biles also revealed that Owens will be by her side for a short while during the Olympic games.

According to reports, Owens got a couple of days off from the training camp of the Chicago Bears and will be joining Biles in Paris. She admitted being “super excited” to have him by her side “because our schedules don’t align that much.”

It really does take a village. So I think we're just all in awe of what I'm doing and I feel like even for myself, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm still doing it. I'm still capable’. So let's go.

Owens also cheered for her during Biles’ US trials as he leaped on his feet from his seat. As the GOAT stated, “It’s these memories that we make that we’ll never get back.”
