After what turned out into a remarkable display by gymnastic legend, Simone Biles, she missed out on an individual gold against Brazilian rival, Rebeca Andrade in the women’s individual event at the Paris Olympics. As Biles and Andrade went head to head with each other till the very end, it was the floor exercise final where Andrade edged past Biles by 0.033 points to clinch the gold.
However, what happened thereafter, left the world in awe as Simone Biles and her American teammate, Jordan Chiles bowed down in respect to Rebeca Andrade on the podium just to essay one of the finest snaps in the history of the Olympics.
Andrade stormed to the very ace with an emphatic performance that saw her grabbing a score of 14.166 while Biles registered 14.133. Chiles grabbed the bronze despite a fifth-place finish earlier, a decision that was revised after a bit of detailed inquiry. Gymnastics has always been the premise of promoting friendship amongst the athletes and the snap captured on the podium with the three medal winners was a testimony to the unity that these three shared.
While Andrade stood on the center step to clinch her gold, Biles and Chiles bowed down to her in utter respect who grabbed her second gold in the history of the Summer Games after recovering from three ACL tears. When the American duo got on their feet, they held hands, soaked in the moment and captured another picture before Brazil’s national anthem blared through the stadium.
How Simone Biles has set gymnastics at the Paris 2024 alight?
It has been a journey to remember for Simone Biles. She cemented her legacy as a bonafide gymnastic legend after grabbing a fourth medal in the ongoing edition of the Summer Games.
With the gold medal in her bag already in the team events, she took centerstage to enhance her tally in the individual one.

While the race for the gold was almost neck-to-neck between Biles and Andrade, the former received a standing ovation after successfully pulling off eponymous Biles II triple-double on the first pass and a Biles I double layout with a half twist on the third. Sadly enough, Biles missed out on the hallowed gold for stepping out of bounds which forced a deduction but eventually gifted the world a moment of lifetime.
