Social media is nothing short of a nightmare for power couples. The fans always have something to say and most of the time, it is not positive. Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens faced a similar dilemma over the weekend after a video of him cheering her on as she vaulted at a Hartford, Connecticut competition began attracting negativity from trolls.

In the video, the safety for the Chicago Bears can be seen clapping for her throughout and when she finally nails her vault, he gets off of his seat and cheers her on. The most wholesome and positive video if you think about it.

However, trolls cannot bear to just let Simone Biles be. They had to chirp and this time, the gymnastics legend decided to chirp back.

Jonathan Owens has been getting trolled over his comments on a podcast

The obvious question is, why would the internet want to hate on Jonathan Owens? The reason is owing to his comments on The Pivot podcast. On the episode, he had stated that he was “the catch” in their relationship and this weekend, the broadcasting network displayed him as ‘Simone Biles’ husband’ rather than safety for the Bears. This led to him becoming the subject of memes and negativity.

She posted a picture of her and Owens shortly after on her Instagram and captioned it with, “My whole heart the best supporter, I couldn’t ask for a better husband.” Biles has been vocal about the unnecessary hate that Owens gets. She defended him after the backlash over his earlier comments, referring to himself as ‘the catch‘ by saying, “He never said I wasn’t a catch. He said he was a catch because he is, I’ve never met a man like him…”

She pointed out that it was just insecure individuals with no business attempting to poke holes into the relationship of a happy couple.

Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles met online on a dating app in 2020. The duo clicked and eventually tied the knot on April 22, 2023 at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston. For their family and friends, they hosted an exclusive celebration in Cabo San Lucas.
