On Tuesday history got scripted in the Paris Olympics as Team USA led by Simone Biles won the gold medal. Their unbelievable achievement at the Olympics was marred with doubts and hateful comments after Biles withdrew from the Tokyo 2020.

Some even doubted the current Team USA lineup, like gymnast MyKayla Skinner who questioned their “work ethics”. In a video, in early July, she said that other than Biles rest teammates were not that notable. She said that the “talent” and “depth” were lacking compared to the past years.

Her comments spread like wildfire on social media platforms, gaining over 3 million views. Biles later noted on Threads, “not everyone needs a mic and a platform”. This incident was closed after Skinner apologized for her comments saying it was a misunderstanding and she didn’t mean to insult any gymnasts headed to the 2024 Olympics.

However, Skinner’s comments once again gained social media traction when Team USA won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games. Biles took to her Instagram account noting, “lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions.” Her caption was seen as a clap back to Skinner’s earlier comments.

Several star athletes commented and congratulated Team USA and Simone Biles for another historic achievement. Lindsey Vonn said, “Hahahah let the haters hate while you badasses go get medals.” Mikaela Shiffrin commented, “? NEVER A DOUBT!!?”

While another gymnast, McKayla Maroney said,

It doesn’t get anymore iconic than this..She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name.

Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens also penned, “F AROUND AND FIND OUT”. Nastia  Liukin said, “Micdrop.” Seems like the whole sports community came after MyKayla Skinner for her comments on Team USA’s capabilities earlier in the month.

In the midst of all the celebrations, Biles revealed the nickname for the Team USA women’s gymnastics. During an interview, gymnastics icon Aly Raisman asked the 8th Olympic medalist about the nickname, when she said, it’s “F.A.A.F.O. F**k around and find out.”

The 2024 Olympics meant a lot to Team USA, especially Simone Biles and Suni Lee who called the Paris Olympics their “redemption tour”. They wanted to do better and bring back the gold medal following Tokyo 2020 incident. By winning the gold medal on Tuesday, the team once again proved that they are not someone to be trifled with.
