The 11-time Olympic medallist and famed gymnast Simone Biles didn’t let a loss affect the Thanksgiving cheer. Biles struck a picture-perfect pose with her hubby, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens after the game.
The Chicago Bears sustained a close loss to conference leaders Detroit Lions in the Thanksgiving classic hosted at Ford Field. The Bears rallied after a 16-0 first half to put up twenty points in the latter half. Unfortunately, due to a bizarre clock management set up by a penalty and a sack, the Bears ended on the receiving end of 23-20. The NFC North team out of Illinois is the only team in the division without a above .500 PCT. After Washington Commanders snapped a winning streak, the Bears fell to a rut losing their sixth game in a row.
Amid the tough times, Simone Biles has been a constant feature in Bears’ game to cheer on her husband. In Week 12, Biles was there to cheer on while Owens had a masterful forced fumble, which he celebrated by sending a gymnastic salute tribute. Biles reposted the images on her story with a trio of white hearts.
Biles arrived in a private plane for the game along with former collegiate volleyball star Torrie Brown for the big game. Biles and Owens spent some time on the sidelines before the game. The couple also snapped some cute pictures which the gymnast had posted on her Instagram story.
Ahead of the game, in an interview with US Weekly, Biles had noted the importance of the holiday. She admitted that she will fly back almost immediately to Chicago where they will be hosting a dinner.
The duo who met while Owens played for Houston through a dating app, tied the knot last year. The Bears safety was present in Paris to see his wife compete in the Olympics. Owens sought out a special time away from his training period to cheer on Biles. She was one of the top gymnasts in the event with 3 golds and 1 silver.
Jonathan Owens and the Bears face a chaotic display after a disastrous loss
The Chicago Bears became the third team to fire their head coach this season following the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints. WIth 4-8, the Bears staging a comeback would be a miracle. In a closely contested NFC North, the Detroit Lions are ahead of the Bears with 11 wins already. The Bears could win all their remaining games but it might still not be enough.
The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are currently 5th and 6th with nine wins each. The race for the last wildcard spot isn’t all too easy either. In the coming weeks, they are set to face all their division rivals – who have defeated them once – once more. The Bears defense aren’t the best this season. Albeit, the Bears defense are still better off then their offense. They are 19th in total yards allowed per game, 13th in total sacks and 3rd in turnovers.
In the past two games, Jonathan Owens has put eight tackles each. Owens, who’s in his first season with the Chicago Bears hasn’t enjoyed the best statistics so far. He has only had nineteen tackles so far in the tournament, with a projected 27 by the end of Week 18. In his last season with Green Bay Packers, Owens had 84 tackles. Meanwhile, his career best came in 2022 with the Texans when he had 125 tackles and 1 sack.
