Simone Biles continued her legendary career with her return at the Paris Olympics. After her incredible win, she was part of a post-game press conference where the 27-year-old was clearly in a great mood and had some fun alongside her teammates.
During the press conference, retired American gymnast Aly Raisman asked Simone Biles what their team name was. She was hesitant to say it out loud and whispered it in her teammate’s ear. Her teammates asked her to say the name after abbreviating it. The 27-year-old replied with “F-A-A-F-O” – meaning “f*ck around and find out.” She elaborated on the acronym with a censored explanation, and the whole venue let out a chuckle.
Biles and her team, comprising Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera, won the gold medal for Team USA at the Women’s Artistic Team All-Around Gymnastics event at the Paris Olympics. They posted a combined score of 171.296, a staggering 6-point lead over the runner-ups.
Team Italy won the silver medal at the event, posting a score of 165.494. This was the first Gymnastics Olympic medal for the European nation in 96 years. Team Brazil secured bronze in the event, posting a combined score of 164.497 to win the country’s first team medal at the Olympic games. Commiserations also went out to Great Britain, which missed out on the podium by a mere 0.234 points.
Simone Biles fires back at former American Gymnast MyKayla Skinner on Instagram
After winning the gold medal, Biles posted a photo on Instagram of her and her teammates carrying the American flag and celebrating their victory. The post was captioned, “Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic Champions.” Although many did not get this reference, the 27-year-old was referring to some harsh words spoken by former American gymnast MyKayla Skinner.
Prior to the Paris Olympics, MyKayla Skinner gave her opinion about the current American female artistic gymnastics team. She felt that there was no talent and depth in the team apart from Biles. She noticed that many girls in gymnastics simply didn’t work hard. Furthermore, she implied that they lacked a good work ethic.
The former gymnast believed that coaches couldn’t be as hard on their team due to the recent sensitive environment. She believed that a little aggression was required from the coaching staff in order to push out the best in the athletes. Although Skinner had apologized for these words, Biles was clearly not going to stand for any words spoken against her team. Hence, she took a shot at the 27-year-old with her Instagram caption.
