As LIV Golf prepares to host the LIV Golf Miami event at the Trump Doral Course, they got slammed by Sir Nick Faldo. The 6-time major champion went on a scathing rant against the Public Investment Fund (PIF) backed tour and urged them to “go and do their own thing.“
Faldo has been one of the top critics of LIV Golf. Ahead of the 2023 Masters Tournament, the former World No.1 ripped his former rival, Greg Norman, and the 54-hole league. The Englishmen has once again taken a swipe at LIV Golf.
While talking with talkSPORT, Faldo was asked about the reunion of the game. With the merger talks between the PGA Tour and the PIF once again taking center stage, the reunification of the sport is something that some people want to see.
Faldo, though, does not want that. He claimed that LIV Golf had created a massive “ruckus” and they should head into their own direction instead of trying to get a reunion.
Personally I think they should just go and do their own thing. LIV – go and play. It’s caused a ruckus.
Sir Nick Faldo said as per talkSPORT
He would then speak about the monetary aspects of the game. The 3-time Masters Champion claimed that everything had become about money and turned the players “soft“.
Everything is about money… It’s not good sport, it’s bloody tough. I think when you’re on a fail free tour, you can’t fail. It makes you go soft, I think some of those players have gone soft.

The breakaway tour has also received some flak from its own members. 5-time major champion Brooks Koepka once again recently admitted that the league was still further behind from where they should have been at the moment.
Sir Nick Faldo discusses Rory McIlroy’s chances of winning the Masters Tournament this year
Ahead of the 2025 Masters Tournament, there has been a huge chatter regarding the chances of Rory McIlroy. The current World No.2 is in great form this year and is a huge favorite to get it done at the Augusta National this year. Sir Nick Faldo recently discussed the chances of him in this event.

This is the one major championship McIlroy has not won in his career. Following a shocking collapse in the 2011 event, he clinched the other three major championships in the span of three years.
Since his triumph at the 2014 PGA Championship, McIlroy has not won a major. In the last two U.S Open tournaments, he has finished as the runner-up by coming 1 shot behind winners Wyndham Clark and Bryson DeChambeau, respectively.
While Faldo claimed that McIlroy has the physical and technical ability to win the Masters this year, he pointed out his mentality. He expressed that the North Irish golfer will need to navigate the mental block to win the event.
Physically, he’s got it. Technically, he’s got it. Where is he mentally? That is the key. History’s not great (for McIlroy).
Sir Nick Faldo said on Sky Sports
"He could do it. I have a feeling he might."

If McIlroy fails to win at the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship in May, then he will break the streak of Tiger Woods. The 15-time major champion had an 11-year gap between his win at the 2008 U.S. Open and the 2019 Masters Tournament. McIlroy also has an 11-year drought. However, if he fails in these two events, then he will have a longer stretch than Woods in terms of days.
Golf insider claims Rory McIlroy always underperforms at the Masters Tournament
Given the current form he is in, many have backed Rory McIlroy to finally claim the green jacket and complete the career grand slam. Whether he does that or not will be answered in a few days time, a golf insider dropped some harsh criticism regarding him recently and stated that he always underperforms in this event.

While discussing the Masters Tournament on a call with Golf Digest, Brandel Chamblee pointed out McIlroy’s former performance. He claimed that the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Tournament, was a “nemesis” of his.
I would say that Augusta National is the Miranda Priestly to Rory McIlroy’s Andrea Sachs. It is literally his nemesis. It brings out the worst golf in Rory annually that we see. He annually underperforms there.

These words from Chamblee did not sit well with the fans. Many would slam him for this take. The Golf Channel analyst, though, did claim that McIlroy could win if he “takes care of his business“.
The Masters Tournament will take place from April 10 to 13 this year. It will be the 89th edition of the tournament, making it one of the oldest golfing events in the world.
