Carlos Alcaraz vs. Taylor Fritz: Match Preview
Taylor Fritz was struggling to perform earlier this season, but when the grass season started, he clinched two titles. He defeated Alexander Zverev for the fifth consecutive time to win the Stuttgart Open, following which, he went past Jenson Brooksby in the Eastbourne International final.

The 27-year-old also reached the semifinals of Wimbledon but lost in four sets against Carlos Alcaraz. It was the six-time Grand Slam champion who denied him his second title at the Japan Open. Following the Japan Open, Fritz participated in the Shanghai Masters, but his run ended in the third round with a straight-set defeat to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Alcaraz, however, is enjoying nothing but a great deal of success this season, for he not only has clinched two Grand Slam titles (French Open and US Open) but has also played eight more finals. Apart from the French Open and US Open, he won six more titles, including three Masters 1000s (Monte Carlo Masters, Italian Open, and the Cincinnati Masters).
After losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open quarterfinals, Alcaraz clinched his career’s first indoor hardcourt title at the Rotterdam Open, but he struggled to perform in the next three events, including in the two Sunshine Doubles events, failing to defend his Indian Wells title.
But when the clay swing started, Alcaraz ended up playing in every final, winning the Monte Carlo Masters (beat Lorenzo Musetti), Italian Open, and the French Open (beat Jannik Sinner in both finals), but lost the Barcelona Open final to Holger Rune. He continued his winning ways in the grass swing and ended up clinching the Queen’s Club Championships and Wimbledon.
Before arriving in Riyadh, the 22-year-old made his debut at the Japan Open and ended the event in his favor by breezing past Fritz. He then skipped the Shanghai Masters because of an ankle injury that he suffered during his debut match in Tokyo.
Carlos Alcaraz vs. Taylor Fritz: Match Prediction
Fritz has met Alcaraz five times, winning just one match. That lone win he clinched in this year’s Laver Cup.

This year, they have met thrice: Alcaraz won their Wimbledon semifinal encounter and the Japan Open final, while the American beat him at the Laver Cup. Alcaraz will enter the semifinal as the favorite to win because not only is he in red-hot form, but he also holds a head-to-head lead over the 2024 US Open runner-up.
Match Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
