Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia Sixers star, has been through it all. His story on his side has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Embiid has seen all the highs and lows in his basketball career to date. From winning the NBA MVP award to being called a flop, he has witnessed everything in his career lately. Most recently, ESPN journalist Dotun Akintoye sat with Embiid to talk about everything in and around his career and the Sixers’ organization.
Injuries play a major role in ruining a sportsman’s career, but when it comes to Embiid, his was on another level. Multiple injuries have taken a toll on Embiid’s basketball career and have derailed his confidence. In the recent interview with ESPN, Embiid spoke on many matters around the Sixers’ dealings with his injuries and recovery process.

Embiid also provided many inside details on how the organization works, revealing many secrets about it. This, in particular, left fans stunned. However, what piqued the fans’ interest was Embiid’s mentality and his willpower to keep going despite the Sixers not treating him right all the way throughout his injuries and the recovery process.

This entire article shows that the Sixers organization has failed Joel Embiid in more ways than just putting the wrong team around him. The number one priority with your superstar player should always be their health, and it seems like the Sixers have totally mishandled that.

Embiid has dealt with it all, from multiple injuries to his body to witnessing the death of his loved ones (his brother, Aurthor, and pet dog). Fans were left emotional after coming across the Sixers player’s life off the court.
Before Embiid hurt his left knee at Golden State in January 2024, the Sixers were 26-7 when he was in the starting lineup. He was on his way to becoming just the second player in existence to score more than one point per minute, posting 35.3 points in 34 minutes, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain‘s 1961–62 campaign. This showcases how good of a player the Sixers’ star was.
Fans left in disbelief after coming across emotional Joel Embiid interview with ESPN
Joel Embiid let it all out in his recent interview with ESPN’s Dotun Akintoye, a fellow African, sharing the same roots. One of the reasons the 76ers’ star man, who does not open up easily, got so comfortable while sharing his story. Embiid clearly stated that the Sixers did not help him in any way while he was dealing with his knee injuries.
Something that the fans were unaware of. All this while, Embiid was subject to immense criticism and hate from his fans without knowing the actual story behind it. Now, since Embiid chose to speak his mind (throwing shade at the 76ers in the process), the fans are behind their 2023 MVP once more. Many of them took to their X accounts to voice their opinions on the star.
One fan wrote on X, Injuries are one thing, but I don’t want to hear a single thing ever again about Joel Embiid being “soft.” This guy cares more than anyone knows. Check out some of the fan reactions below:

Joel Embiid has near single handedly masked the fact that the Sixers have been the most dysfunctional organization in sports for the past decade+ https://t.co/dcDik9IJyg

Thank you brother. You’ve given voice to someone who should be celebrated yet faces constant abuse for things not in his control.

I ain’t gonna lie, but Embiid gets criticized more than he should.

As far as Embiid is concerned, this offseason is one of the most important and defining ones in his NBA career ever. As he recovers from his confidence-draining knee injuries, Embiid hopes to bring back his MVP-caliber performances once again. Fans also hope to see the player get his old form back in the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season.
Joel Embiid stated that his former teammate James Harden does not talk to him
The Philadelphia 76ers’ management and dealings are so dysfunctional that they even broke a good friendship between two friends: Joel Embiid and James Harden. The former opened up in a recent interview with ESPN (same interview as mentioned above) that Harden does not talk to him anymore.
This is because the current Los Angeles Clippers star thinks that Embiid had a role to play in his exit in 2023 from the 76ers. Embiid claimed this was not the case.

No one knows this, but even James [Harden] is not talking to me. That’s the part I don’t like about being ‘that guy,’ because it puts you in the middle of those situations. Because if you ask James, he probably believes I had something to do with him not being here.
Joel Embiid told ESPN
Harden’s split from the 76ers wasn’t pleasant. Everyone assumed he would remain with the team in 2023 after he exercised his player option at $35.6 million. The franchise’s team president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, was the target of his subsequent criticism.
He said Morey was a “liar,” and Harden said he wouldn’t want to play for a company that hired the executive. Now, with Embiid coming out and choosing to speak on this matter, it will be interesting to watch if Harden makes amends with his former teammate or chooses to ignore this matter.
