Kelly Oubre Jr. crashed his Lamborghini after loss in game 2.
The Philadelphia 76ers Kelly Oubre Jr. had a tough start to the week as the Sixers lost their second consecutive game in the first-round matchup against the New York Knicks.
However, the series of unfortunate events did not stop there, as Oubre crashed his Lamborghini hours after the loss.
TMZ reported that around 1:45 am on Tuesday, Kelly Oubre Jr. crashed into a Hyundai Elantra after running a red light in New York. Fortunately, no injuries were reported by the police, but the vehicles suffered some serious damage. Oubre even joined the starting lineup for the third game of the series.
Notably, this is not the first time the star has been involved in an accident. In November, the player got hit by a car in a hit-and-run case.
Oubre missed a total of eleven games after the accident. However, this time around, the team cannot afford the absence of the star as it may cause an exit for the Philadelphia 76ers from the next round.
Despite Oubre’s below-par contribution of four points in game 2, the forward came back stronger in the next game. The 28-year-old added 15 points in the win led by Joel Embiid.
The former MVP had a dominating 50-point performance to keep the Sixers in the series. The team needs to perform as a unit and overcome multiple obstacles to win the first round.
Kelly Oubre Jr. will get a driver due accident after game 2
The Philadelphia 76ers star is passionate about collecting and driving cars. However, now it seems like the player needs to be aware after engaging in two accidents in the span of six months. After a much-needed win in the third game, Oubre confirmed the car crash in New York.
As per a tweet by the Athletic’s Mike Vorkunov, the star gave positive news about the injuries of the involved individuals and stated that he will be taking a break from driving and will stay out of dangerous circumstances from here on.
Everything is good. I'm okay. The people that were involved are okay, but I'm gonna need to probably get a driver or something and just stay off the roads and behind the wheel but everything is good.Kelly Oubre Jr said
The news certainly generated worry among NBA fans, but fortunately, the accident was not serious. But Oubre’s irresponsible actions in the middle of the postseason did not sit well with fans. As this is the player’s first playoff with the Sixers, fans have high expectations of the player.
