A statue of Allen Iverson was unveiled outside the Philadelphia 76ers practice facility.

One of the biggest honors athletes can get is their own statue by their most treasured team. Many NBA legends have received this honor over the years. The Philadelphia 76ers added another Hall of Famer to the list of statues outside their practice facility. The star is none other than ‘the answer’ Allen Iverson.

Ten years after his retirement, in March, the organization announced that Allen Iverson will be the 10th player to have a statue on the Legend’s Walk. Little over a month after the announcement the unveiling ceremony took place on Friday ahead of the 76ers matchup against the Orlando Magic. The star now has joined the company of Sixers legends including Julius Erving, Charles Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, and others.

Iverson played a total of 11 years with the Philadelphia 76ers, arguably the best years of his career. During his time with the Sixers, A.I. won his MVP in the 2000-01 season. In the same season, the team made its last appearance in the NBA finals. Iverson also holds the second spot in career points in the franchise’s history.

However, despite the emotional ceremony, fans were disappointed with the size of the unveiled statue. Considering the other NBA statues fans have witnessed before, A.I.’s sculpture is comparatively small. The size of the sculpture became the main topic of discussion among NBA netizens on social media.

Philadelphia 76ers followers were overjoyed by Iverson’s addition to the list of franchise’s legends. The star even got emotional while speaking at the ceremony. Iverson thanked the people who played a part in his amazing career and stated that the statue was a representation of all those who helped him develop.

The criticism over the size of the statue was caused by a misunderstanding. The size of the other statues on the Legend’s Walk is similar to Iverson’s statue.
