The Indian women hockey team created history in their maiden quarterfinals at the Tokyo Olympics, after defeating Australia in a spectacular and historic match. The Indian women found a victory 1-0 over the hot favourites, as they secured their place in the semifinals. Dragflicker Gurjit Kaur scored the only goal of the match, and Savita’s fantastic defending skills caused a big upset as the Indian women dominated.

The team celebrated their victory on the ground, and their coach Sjoerd Marijne was the happiest of them all, almost in tears as he called his family and friends to tell them the news. Marijne has played a big role in bringing the team to their current form, helping them deliver strong performances.

Marijne posted a tweet after the Indian women hockey team won the match, a well deserved victory.

Shah Rukh Khan, who played Coach Kabir in a famous movie about Hockey, Chak De India, replied to Marijne’s tweet with a bit of friendly banter. He referenced the movie, and told the team to get home a gold, and everyone was waiting for them.

The tweet garnered some negative reactions, as it was the actual hard work of the team and the coach that allowed India a well deserved victory. Many twitter users did not like the face that Shah Rukh Khan had compared a movie to the efforts of the Indian team. Marijne handled the situation well, and gave a swift and true reply to Khan, saying he was the real coach.
